Guest guest
> Hi Can you tell me what Mac and PCD is ???? > Or have they even explained it to you. Do any of you people ever get rid of the coughing and sputum? Does it go away ever? Is this what life is going to be like? This is a year now for me with no let up.......What can I expect? > > Thanks > > > > > Collapsed Lung > Hi All, > I had a non-productive cough for about a week, it got worse and I was given prednisone and Levaquin. A few days later on a Friday, Dr. ordered a chest x-ray which showed walking pneumonia. Since I was on medication, he said that if I got worse over the weekend I was to go to emergency. My cough did get worse and the phlegm in the center of my chest would not come up. I was having difficulty breathing (which never happened before) and decided it was time to go to the emergency room. I was x-rayed and diagnosed with a collapsed left lung in addition to the pneumonia which was quite a shock. > I needed a chest tube inserted and I was so frightened of the procedure, however it wasn't as painful as I thought, but coughing with this tube in your body is no picnic. Lots of morphine helped me through this ordeal. > My sputum was cultured and they found that I have another aspergillus infection. My infectious disease Dr. gave me a script for V-Fend which has worked very well for me in the past. I had to wait 3 days for my insurance company to pre-authorize this medication which costs $2,326.00 for one month's supply (without insurance), before I was able to get it into my system. > Apparently the surgeon feels that the incessant coughing produced a small hole in the lung, coupled with the pneumonia and fluid, it collapsed. He stated that if I get one of those horrible coughing spells, I need to take my codeine cough medicine to avoid any future problems. I didn't realize that heavy coughing spells could cause this to happen. > This is a totally new experience for me and wonder if anyone in the group has had a similar experience to share? I also understand that after a collapsed lung, one can not fly for 6 weeks. > Have a happy healthy Thanksgiving everyone, > Eileen-FL > > > > Never miss a thing. I just read in our local paper that our community a city of over 450,000.00 is in debt and was awaiting some money from our federal gov't because all the refugees crossing at the Niagara border have been bused into our city to be on our welfare system consequently our property taxes will be increased and they are talking about a surtax of 1% (that would be to feed, cloth, and house these families). With refugees these are the people that our countries just accept no matter what they have health wise or criminally.. ..at least with the landed immigrants they do check out their health but they don't quarantine them until they get the results. I guess the USA and Canada divied up these people before now the USA has said NO MORE! I'm really nervous of reading these articles it didn't say what countries these people are coming from but I can just imagine. I was Xmas shopping yesterday the whole day and other than the store clerks I would say maybe I heard 20 people speaking English the rest were all speaking whatever their language is and loudly too....Our countries are becoming 3rd world countries, and our Dr's are not prepared for this plus our bodies can not handle these new bacteria's, etc.....Shame on our Gov't's for not being better prepared and preparing us for what was coming so we could protect ourselves! We do have to be careful at the office in my main office there are about 100 agents, I work out of a branch office with about 40 agents. The gal that runs our marketing department has had pneumonia off and on for the last 10 years. She currently has it and was only off work for a couple of days and told me her son has bronchitis (a severe case) I told her she needs to get a Cat Scan (I didn't share with her my diagnosis) but I think she too has it. There is our Xmas dinner party this Friday and I've declined (because of all the office sicknesses esp. her's) People need to be respectful and stay home when they are sick even esp. with a cold as the sneezing sends all the germs airborne. I don't want to be paranoid but I also no how I got this and it came from a sick client so now I try to avoid what I can when I can. We need to protect our Health Have a great Day! >> Personally, I too am afflicted with the bronc, but when others (non citizens) mooch from my health care, that may well be stealing from my health care. I would rather the refugees pay their own way as they may well drag down my health care for the sake of their health care. I personally welcomed the posting of s to educate the people of what is happening to our health care system. Canada and USA can NOT provide the whole world with health care with out destroying our own economy. We have to be responsible for our own debts. Forced providing for others is making me a poor boy! The posting should NOT be considered as political nor politically correct. Tell it like it is! >>>>>>>>Have a great day. Al
