Guest guest
Armede...I'm reading in your post, "Humibid"...I also have Fibromyalgia and I've never heard of this. What is it and how does it treat FM? Thanks. Sher ipf 5-06 Should expectorants be used with ILD's? Hello all, when it was still in the chronic bronchitis (sp) stage, I used to use myrrh gum resin tinctur as an expectorant. Its also a powerful diaretic and hard on the liver, so I used it very sparingly.Over the years I switched to Humibid because it's gentler and is being used in the treatment of fibromyalgia. Since my biopsy, I've gotten the old "tell tale " signs of an upcoming respritory infection. I can feel the conjestion in my lungs building up. Can anyone tell me the general school of though on using expectorants with ILD? It seems like bringing mucus up and out would be a good thing? Bit I also read that hemoraging might be an issue?Thank you LynnA
Guest guest
Lynn, As I have said before, my doc right from the beginning warned me of letting mucus build up in my lungs. I have always used nebulizers. I have always taken an expectorant. If that stuff is in there it is making infection. I am up right now in the middle of the night because I cannot stop coughing! I hate it...I so love my sleep. Hugs, Joyce >> Hello all, when it was still in the chronic bronchitis (sp) stage, I > used to use myrrh gum resin tinctur as an expectorant. Guest guest
Joyce You can always talk to me, I've just gotten home from work.will be up for a little while longer. The cough I think is the worse. You cough until you throw up everything you have eaten or drank for the last few hrs.I am allergic to most antibiotics, so I use Echinacea for infection. It works good for me. Last year I had a staff infection and this helped clear up. My grand-daughter's dr recomended for her because also allergic to PCN. Have a peaceful night. ipf 7/05 janne5303 wrote: Lynn, As I have said before, my doc right from the beginning warned me of letting mucus build up in my lungs. I have always used nebulizers. Guest guest
Hi Sher, you may know "Humibid" or "mucinex' as the expectorant guaifenesin. It has seemed to work for a male friend of mine. He says it has made all the difference in the world. He self medicateds. I don't know if the medical community is still using it.http://www.fibromyalgiatreatment.com/LynnA--- In Breathe-Support , "Sher K Bauman" wrote:>> Armede...I'm reading in your post, "Humibid"...I also have Fibromyalgia and I've never heard of this. Guest guest
Armede...I did check out the site you gave. Wow. I've had FM for nearly 20 years and finally quit reading about it. Nothing seems to really help. Thanks for this info. Guest guest
I have been using qualifenesin for a loooooong time. I now buy it across the counter with the brandname Mucinex. I take one a.m. and one p.m. I find that when I run out the mucus gets thicker. Guest guest
Hi , Almost any drugstore or Puritans will carry Echinacea, suppose to improve immune health. I take 1 three times a day to ward off colds, etc. If I have signs I take 3-4 , three times a day. Usually takes care of anything within 2-3 days. This is again a natural substance . Not regulated by FDA,but it works for me. My drs says will not do harm, but they don't think will help. Their loss my gain. ipf 7/05denise randel wrote: , I have a dry cough and so far no problem with mucus but lots of problems with infection! Where do you buy the Echinacea? And how much do you take?
