Dear ,

Thank you so much for your positive comments on this list. I am glad

that the members have been able to add to your knowledge of diabetes so

that you were able to be part of your own treatment.

Good job, list members!!!! Keep it up!

Congratulations on the great weight loss and the control you have

achieved. I thought I was doing well, but you are doing even better. I

lost 48 pounds so far, but it took me almost 11 months to do it. I am

also on the ADA diet provided by my HMOs dietitian. How is your HbA1c.

That is the real test of how we are doing. Keep up the good work and

have a wonderful, healthy holiday.

:) Erwin

WOW ,

42 lbs since September?! Thats terrific. I'm glad you found the info you

needed to confront your doc and get what you should have in the first place!

What a shame that we have to do this

Keep up the great work! :)

Meenie

Thanks

Your message not only goes in the file but printed out too for much

more study. I'm taking your advice on the 'chicken soup

principle.' 'Hey - it couldn't hurt.'

As you know, we're designed to scavenge on the plains of Africa.

There we'd get day-old meat and our vegies from the guts. So what you

say makes sense to the Neandertal in me. With just a little more hair

on my back I could pass.

Best wishes and thanks. Owen

Leanne, I got the packet you sent me yesterday. Thank you so much it was very informative. I have had a rollar coaster week and somewhere in the middle when I read my offical diagnosis of advanced interstitual disease, I had a moment of elation thinking "I must have heard my doctor wrong. I don't have Pulmonary Fibrosis! Whopee!" I am now back to reality and I did find that my insurance covers a pulmonary center close by. Some one told me I should hook up with a transplant center as soon as possible. UCLA is not too far from me. Do you know anything about them ? Hi , We can recommend two doctors from UCLA - Dr. Zisman - and Dr. ph Lynch same phone number. They are both on our Medical Advisory Board. Keep us posted. I exercise everyday--I walk the treadmill, free weights and yoga one day and the next day I ride exercise bike, do other floor exercises and tai chi. I spend approximately 1 1/2 hrs a day exercising. No I am not an exercise freak I just want to keep my lungs working as long as possible!!!! In fact I have always hated exercise but I have decided living longer is now my goal!!!

-------------- Original message -------------- Thank You Leanne! What an answer to prayer you are. I am calling tomorrow. I keep thinking of more questions- Has anyone tried Yoga or Tai Chi to help with breathing? Also, while reading old posts I noticed you had a dairy survey. Should we avoid dairy? And has there been any difference between vegetarians and meat eaters? Leanne Storch wrote:

WOW Jan, You are now my Idol. I feel so good about myself when I can go up and down the porch 3 or 4 times.

Keep up the good work. My Dr. would love you.. He says exercise is the most important thing I can do to be ready for a transplant.. that and loose 50 more pounds. God Bless you with renewed strength. Peggy
