Ironing clothes

OK, this is really annoying me...

My mom's trying to teach me how to iron clothes. Yes, that's right, I

never knew how until-- well, I'm 22, but I still don't know how,

despite my mom's best efforts to teach me.

It's just not sticking in my mind. I've been ironing for several

weeks now, but every time, without fail, I have to ask my mom what

order to press the parts of the shirt/pants, because I honestly

haven't even the slightest clue where to start. And I also can't

remember how things go-- do you lay the garment flat on the board, do

you wrap it around the board, which way does it hang, yada yada yada?

And before anyone says, take the clothes out of the dryer as soon as

possible so they don't get wrinkled... oh, they're already well

wrinkled before they even leave the dryer. The only thing I can think

of is that possibly 60 minutes is way too long to set the dryer on and

that I need to go to a shorter drying cycle... or possibly that I'm

not using the right heat setting, one of the two.

So... Anyone else here who has successfully learned how to either iron

clothes or avoid doing so, could you share your secrets? This is

really beginning to frustrate me, and I don't want to go off to

graduate school too frustrated. -_-
