Guest guest
Powerful testimony is a gross understatement. I was truly touched by the clarity and depth of Louise''s testimony. Not because I support this legislation, but because of the apparent nexus or connecting point between her ALS and the mold exposure, she endured. Nexus is a legal term which connotes cause and effect. I have learned that some of the toxins emitted by mold and its by-products it can spawn are gliotoxins or toxins which affect the brain. I had read that traumatic brain injuries can cause Parkinson''s or other similar illnesses. It is the first time that I considered an exposure to mold which may cause a catastrophic illness. But it should not surprise me. When I was exposed to aspergillus fumigatus at the O.H. School in South Boston, MA, I developed immediate symptoms such as headaches, eardrum pain, bloody nose and ears, hair loss, fever and debilitating fatigue, among other symptoms. It stands to reason that those sinus infections in the cranial region may be causing more than cancer - that the neurotoxins may also contribute to illnesses that we formerly associated with heredity or trauma. It means that there may be a larger picture which was deliberately ignored by the medical community and drug research industry that needs review. And most importantly - oversight, because there is a lack of credibility which has emerged as a result of self-dealing and skewed research. Clearly, Louise suspects the cause to be mold. Her credentials suggest strongly that she has paid close attention to where she was when she became sick and the effect that mold appeared to have in her diagnosis. She is in my prayers and I thank her, as a fellow JD, for shining light on this problem, rather than remaining silent, as it is always easier to do. She still is taking the high road. Bravo.
