Guest guest
April 7, 2007 Mayor Purcell City of Lawton 103 SW 4th ST Lawton, OK 73501 Dear Mr. Mayor, I just received your letter dated April 3, 2007. Sadly, your staff failed to mail it, according to the US Postage stamp on your envelope, until April 5, 2007. This means you did not mail it until 24 hours after you had been expected to be at my home. In regards to your letter, your response states that you received my letter of March 31, 2007. This letter also included the report by State Licensed Architect Strider, which I had provided to you in earlier communications, that detailed serious State and Federal Code violations. This report demonstrates that the City failed in your Moral, Legal and Fiduciary responsibility, to HUD and my Family, to perform a proper inspection of our home throughout the construction process. It also shows that you failed in your Federal responsibility to professionally and properly manage Federal Funds as required by Law. Your response shows that you remain aware that no corrections have been made to our home some ten months after we first contacted you and other City officials in writing. My initial communications to you and Habitat of these issues was before I was forced to file Formal Federal Complaints due to your failure to perform your Legally required responsibilities. The attached communication from your City Attorney also shows that the City seems to be receiving false and erroneous information. I do not know if the false and erroneous information is being provided to the City Attorney by other City officials or by Habitat themselves. In Attorney Jensen's communication, he stated that Mr. Cornish, of Habitat, would supervise the correction work required to repair all of the damage to our home caused by the water leaks, including the water damaged gas hot water heater, through the roof and would correct all of the issues in the Strider report. The communication stated Mr. Cornish would not do the work. Imagine our surprise when we allowed Mr. Cornish into our home on April 5, 2007 , after the City requested us to, and Mr. Cornish stated several times he was doing all of the work himself even though he has no State License in these areas requiring correction. I provided Mr. Cornish with a copy of Mr. Jensen's e-mail. Imagine our further shock when we were yelled and screamed at by Mr. Cornish during the visit arranged and recommended by the City. Due to the threatening nature he displayed we have told you and Habitat that Mr. Cornish will subject himself to arrest if he comes on our property ever again. We have also notified HUD and other Federal Protective Agencies of our fear. We have been forced to ask for Federal Protection. This was not necessary if only Habitat and the City had just fixed our home over ten months ago when told in writing of the major defects. If it had been fixed, no Federal Complaints would have ever had to have been filed. In my letter that you stated you received, I also informed you that we have been told that attempts to access my VA and Army medical and financial records and identity theft have been attempted. There are also Federal investigations into these alleged serious Federal Crimes. Perhaps you, the City and Habitat have failed to grasp the serious nature of these issues and other alleged intentional Federal Crimes. It is sad that we now are forced to live in fear in Lawton in our own home. A disabled Family of three Adults should never have to live in fear in their own community.
