Guest guest
I think shorts and a nice shirt would be fine for a job like that. Pay extra attention to cleanliness and orderliness. Good luck! kandie

Guest guest
How about khaki (did I spell that right?) pants? With maybe a button up shirt or nice short sleeve shirt? Pretty much any color goes with tan. Tracey
Guest guest
Though I am an accountant, I spent my last 2 years working in Human Resources for a manufacturing company. In jobs before that, I usually interviewed and hired people for the department I work in. The rule of thumb I have always heard is that you wear to an interview a step up from what you would wear on a best day on the job. This would mean that wearing a suit for a waitress would be as big a no-no as wearing jeans for a management position. I may be a bit old fashioned though in that I do not feel that wearing jeans, shorts or anything torn is appropriate no matter what the job is. I have had many interviews in which I have decided not to hire the person even before she spoke because of her attire. What you wear speaks volumes about who you are. My suggestion is to wear pants (doesn't matter the material as long as they are not old looking) and any kind of shirt (only a t-shirt if it is a solid color other than white - short sleeve is fine). > I have an interview tomorrow, nothing big, just with a place that is looking for people to put flyers on the doors of businesses. What should I wear? It will be an outside job with lots of walking. Remember, this is Phoenix, we're still in the mid 80's. Would nice shorts and a t-shirt be ok? Button down shirt? Long pants? I don't want to appear as a total bum like I usually dress, but a skirt and blouse doesn't sound appropriate either. Guest guest
Janae - What kind of outside job? I am a fashion mongrel. No wait... I should say I used to be a fashion DIVA LOL. I lived and breathed clothes. Now, almost nothing looks good on me, so I prefer my pj's, which *I* think look great on me, all 50 of them (but for some odd reason, everyone around me disagrees?). Anyhow - one small tip. When wearing something for an interview, or for some occasion calling for making an impression - - - always go with what you KNOW looks good on you. YOU have to know it looks good on you, and generally speaking, unless you are truly misguided, you'll be right, and it will show. You never look better than when YOU think you look great.... so wear something you know looks good on you. (Matching it to the occasion is secondary... although I wouldn't recommend the strapless velvet gown.......) Back in my single days, just when halter tops started coming back - - - I dared to buy and wear one out to a club. Everyone said it looked great - but me? I was half freaking out and half repulsed at the sight of me. I hate my upper arms, with or without reason, and my mind was on that all night long. Jesus could have complimented me and I'd still be nervous. Nervous is not something you want to do tomorrow. Because you are in AZ, I'd say the casual look is appropriate. Being 'in-style " is not as important as looking good in what you're wearing, no matter the trend. (But do try to remain in the past 3-4 years, please!) If shorts seem too casual, a look you can always go for is khaki or white capris with a button down cotton classic oxford shirt. Pair this up with a nice watch, simple accessories and a pair of Moses Sandals, and you're set. *IF* you look good in this style!!!!! (And don't forget to patch your purse to what you're wearing!) Grace fashion advice for the fashionless > I have an interview tomorrow, nothing big, just with a place that is looking for people to put flyers on the doors of businesses. What should I wear? Guest guest
Hmm.... well, I guess the best way to describe them would be to say that they are usually rubber-soled comfy shoes, with straps <belted or velcro> across the top of the foot, usually 4-6 straps. There are some in leather, but mine are in suede. The ones from Timberland are in leather though - and mine are from Ecco, " walking shoes " really. These sandals never have heels. SOOOOOOOOOOO comfortable, yet in style. It states something like, " I play things down, and figure out ways to be comfortable without sacrificing style! " LOL I don't know what I would do without my Eccos! Guest guest
Thanks for all the help. My idea of dressing up is putting on a pair of shoes. I live in shorts or sweats and t-shirts. I found some tan material that I had meant to make shorts out of and made some long pants instead (would you believe that I don't even own a pair of long pants!!!), so I now have a nice new pair of khaki pants. Now, should I wear the red t-shirt of the light blue short sleeve blouse... decisions, decisions... Grace, the job is basically putting flyers on doors of companies, but I would be representing a specific company and their product. I figure shorts and t-shirts would be ok for doing this but I didn't want to show up for an interview that way just in case. Guest guest
Since I'm in Vegas...I'd option for the nice button down shirt and a nice pair of shorts. Penny :-)

I had the best pair of sandals (my mom called them my jesus sandals) last year. One of the straps fell apart because I wore them all the time. I have never found a pair since. Oh how I miss my moses sandals. ( Tracey
