Guest guest
I am even MORE confused. I thought I was LOW in cortisol and have been taking HC. According to the link, I have HIGH cortisol (thyroid dysfunction, interruption of REM sleep cycle. low B/P, thin, dry skin, weight gain, IBS and low body temperature). Could it be that the symptoms for low and high cortisol are the same? Love, Pamela groupiestuff wrote: Try thishttp://tinyurl.com/rlzflhttp://tinyurl.com/pavu6High cortisol can cause insulin resistance, thyroid resistance and estrogen dominence and others. Guest guest
Hi , The fact that interrupted REM sleep indicates high cortisol makes me think I have high cortisol. I haven't had a deep slumber in over 10 years! What is Phosphtidylserene? I notice the lecithin powder I just bought has Phosphatidyl Choline and Phosphatidyl Inositol. Is lecithin a source of Phosphtidylserene? Love, Pamela wrote: The remedy for high Cortisol is Phosphatidylserene. And removing the stress that is causing it. But are you sure your is high? Guest guest
Pamela low thyroid causes poor sleep as does low cortisol. I would NOT use that as a gage of your cortisol levels. Have you done a temperature graph? That and the self tests with the flashlight over you eyes are probably about as accurate as saliva testing and they cost nothing to do. Look in the files for the self tests you can do. I just hate to see you try to lower cortisol that may already be too low. You can do a Google search for Phosphatidylserene, lots of info and sources for i there. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
I haven't had REM sleep for years either, and I have low cortisol. Taking melatonin at night has restored my REM sleep and I'm dreaming again! Guest guest
Pam, Yes I was very confused. Most of the info out there is for LOW cortisol and many of the symptoms overlap. Shames and have self-tests in their books. I flunked both of them. I flunked the Pupil dialation test. Everything pointed to low cortisol. My temps were swinging from 96.8 to 99.4 throughout the day. I could not lose weight and my cholesterol is 330. My BP is 110/70. I could not sleep and I was miserable from 8-noon and then I would get a bit better for the rest of the day. My worst problem was my TSH was over a 100 and I could not raise the Armour as my heart would start pounding and I could not sleep. Everything over stimulated me. I couldn't even take Excedrin as the caffeine would make my heart pound.Fortunately I have a good doc that understands all of this. The only way you are going to know for sure is to get tested. I took a 24 hour urine test and was high. If you are in the bottom third of the range, it is considered low. A saliva test is a better tool for low cortisol. There are many things that can cause high cortisol. Weight lifters have high cortisol, alcholics, people who are constantly depressed, schizophrenic (sp?), poor diet, too much stress and tumors and many other things. Several years ago I was diagnosed with an overactive sympathetic system and had some bone problems. Now I'm wondering if it's really just high cortisol and I've probably had this for many years but it just got really bad recently. jingles > > I am even MORE confused. Guest guest
I would have to disagree. I flunk the flashlight test and Rinds temp graph. I do pass the BP test. I have HIGH cortisol. Testing is the only way. Jingles Have you done a temperature > graph?
