Guest guest
Jackie, , (15, CHARGE) has had scoliosis, too. He started with a 14 degree curve last year and with the help of a great chiropractor, he is down to 7 degrees. We are thrilled! We opted to try the chiropractor and save the surgery if it didn't work. We feel that will continue to benefit from the chiropractic adjustments. He probably won't ever be 100% straight, but many people aren't, and function quite well. We are pleased with chiropractic and encourage others to try also. Guest guest
I have a question with this issue. Marlee has scoliosis also she has I believe a 12 or 13 degree curve but her orthopedist didn't say anything about it. Should I be getting a second opinion or wait for something to go wrong? It doesn't seem to bother her when do I know if this is an issue that needs immediate attention. If this sounds bad that only one medical issue I have been dealing with is her shunt for her Arnold chiari malformation, I am not ignoring other issues but I am still trying to rate importance of some. This month has been hell so far neurosurgeon, peds, eyes, dentist, therapy evals and above all proving to SSI that Marlee is STILL disabled although the laws of disability changed in Wisconsin. WHAT ELSE????Can you believe they wanted all of Marlee's doc and therapy app. since 97 give me a break. I signed releases for information but told " my " concern rep. that if she thought I was going to list them individually she was sadly mistaking. Sorry to ramble thanks for listening- lee momma to Marlee 6 CHARGEr
Guest guest
Hello parents and docs of older Chargers, I am writing for Suitor who you may have met at the Boston conference. 's son, Jarrett, is 17 or 18 (?) is probably going to need surgery for scoliosis and would like info from anyone who has experienced this. Meg, perhaps you have some experience with this? Brown, are you lurking and have some experience with this? Any responses will be greatly appreciated and will be forwarded to . Thank you, Jackie Kenley

Guest guest
has a hump at the top. We have been told it could be due to using a protective stance as a visually impaired child. Or just poor muscle tone, late walking, etc. He gets checked every six months, and it doesn't seem to be changing, and can be still manipulated back to straight (one of the things the PT does). He also looks to be developing a very slight scoliosis. I am a great believer in chiropractic, and I do have adjusted occasionally. He doesn't mind, because usually at doctor's offices he lies face down on the table so no one can examine him. At the chiro, that is what we want him to do! Also, the doc uses this big huge vibrator all over his back which he loves. (I would go to the chiro just to have THAT done! ) , mom to (9) ChArGE S. Hartshorne .Hartshorne@... Guest guest
Dear Celeste, Thank you for your message, Celeste! I will pass it on to Suitor. How did your daughter do with anesthesia..I think that is one of 's concerns as Jarrett has sinus problems-infections-frequently. My daughter is almost 14 and is at 28%..she wears a brace at night. The orthopedist feels she will probably not need surgery but who knows. She has been having periods for over a year now. She doesn't do chiropractic but has massage and cranio-sacral work done. So glad to hear of the success of the surgery! Take care, Jackie Kenley in San Francisco
Guest guest
Hi! nne did very well with the anesthesia. I remember being scared to death due to the length of the surgery. She had a cardiologist, neurologist, orthopedic surgeon and a pulmonary specialist in the room with her. On nne they went in through the front which sounds weird. She has quite a scar - from her pelvic area curving up toward her spine. You can tell your friend nne also suffers from many sinus infections and ear infections. In fact, before her surgery she had bronchitis so we had to wait until that cleared. About 4 days after her surgery she suffered from complication of being on her side so long during the surgery. She had a problem with 1 lung. They did ultrasound and it showed that the lung didn't collapse but there was alot of fluid outside of the lung. She had respiratory therapy every 4 hours and when she went home they showed me how to do it. I hope this helps. - Celeste
