Lynn,

FWIW, I took one dose of about 12 mg of Pregnenolone, and I woke up in the middle of the night with heart palps, accompanied by a hot sweats and later with cool, clammy sweats. That was it for me, but I am the sensitive sort. However, after researching I found out that Preg can, indeed, cause heart palps for some so a starting dosage of 5 mg was recommended. I haven’t tried that, but may at some point.

The reason I took it to begin with is that my saliva Progesterone was low and I cannot take any P without side effects. Since this is a precursor, my practitioner thought it might be worth a try to bring me into balance. Sounds good in theory. Some women I know take up to 50 mg with no problem and it seems to help in the process of regaining hormonal balance. If you decide to supplement with preg, my suggestion would be to start with a low dosage and work up. IMHO, it is often a good idea anyway when beginning most all hormone supplementation.

Before I went on to the WP in November 04, I had taken 100mg Pregnenolone and 50 mg DHEA per day. It kept me going, but when my hormone values were measured, estrogen and Progesterone were practicqally non-existent.

dear,

How about Pregnenolone a n d DHEA, that's what I did, then. And I felt completely fine, no menopause symptoms, - even went to Europe on it. (Of course, I didn't have any periods anymore). I'm sure I got the endometrium buildup to 12 mm only after having been on the high WP E2=doses and going off P altogether. Continuing without P from there on, I was taking 1.5mg-2mg E2 in olive/day, pitching in 50-100mg/day Pregnenolone and DHEA with it in between. My E count became 116, later 149 which seems to be the desirable numbers - my doc commented that the Pregnenolone probably turned into E. Even Taguchi had said to me "go ahead, if that worked for you before..". If I had known I would've started taking the iodine drops right away then. But I had no idea what iodine could do, so I got the endometrial buildup during the next 6 months while on this 'protocol'.** Then the next 11 months I was asking myself what to do and started taking iodine in March if I recall correctly.

(I also did a 3month-course of Indium - 1 drop in the morning first thing away from brekfast, and after that I used homeopathic lozenges hGH for 3 months, - both of which helped to re-stimulate my own endocrine system). I'm so glad I learned about Iodine, something hat would balance my endocrine system, and my doctor recommended it too, since he was taking a bunch of "anti-aging" seminars from a number of doctors that were mentioned on these pages, he has really made great strides...and now seems to have a lot of women patients.

I'm sure you are hypo, if not in your blood or saliva, you probably show the symptoms. Hav e you looked into Shomon's "Living well with Hypo-Thyroidism?"

Don't give up, you'll find a solution, don't be afraid to cautiously titrate according to how you feel.

Lots of Love,

Charlotte

**(I got the scan in Jan 2005 because my mother had had fibrocystic cysts during the last 3 decades of her life and had had 2 major and very exhausting surgeries although it wasn't cancer).

Oh boy. Reading this is not making me happy as I'm thinking of stopping my Biest sublinguals and just taking DHEA every day. I'm tired of bleeding to death just because I took too much biest without using the damned P. But if 50 mg of DHEA showed non-existent levels of hormones, I don't know what to think now.>> Before I went on to the WP in November 04, I had taken 100mg Pregnenolone and 50 mg DHEA per day. I don't know why today, Jan 30, I'm getting again all my emails from Jan 27. I thought (maybe there's a reason), because I should've given you m y answer:

You can get oral as well as sublingual DHEA (several different strengths) from LEF, very reasonably priced. If your liver doesn't need another additional "job", try the sublingual kind.

Love,

Charlotte

WhenI reorder I will buy the 5 mg caps above so it will be easier totitrate my dose. If I try to take more than 5 mg/day I get acne.Kathy
