I can understand why she is uncomfortable.  She is sticking her neck out.  And I don't think that it is ethical to cut you off so fast. ?  I heard a doctor use the term "patient abandonment" about a similar situation.  I don't know if that is the exact term.  Anyway, you could google around and then make a case that the old doc needs to help you find a new doctor. You could write a letter which is both factual and assertive, but not threatening.  Rx'ing that much armour is way off standard of care and this doctor took a huge risk for you.  You could thank her for that.   If you want to get what you want then it would be helpful to figure out what this doctor needs to help you get what you want.  She sounds scared.   And you do too.  It is scary to feel cut off from my hormones.Jackie Springer, an anti-aging endo in Kansas, lost her license for Rx'ing Armour (supposedly).  Who knows why they really go after someone.   Doctors practice in a box.  The pharmaceutical companies, the boards, the financial stuff, insurance, etc., etc. are on the other sides of the box.  It isn't that easy to get the info.  There is huge pressure to stay within the standard of care for the area.  In many cases, those that veer from that are heroic.  They get called to the board and they have to have the gonads to fight for what they believe in.   We just need to find the good ones.  Best wishes with this.Laurel____________ So this new dr, who previous to this agreed to continue on with what I was taking, said today that she was uncomfortable Rx'ing me 11 grains of Armour even tho she agreed I was doing fabulous on it and everything I was on. I know I can live without my BHRT (but not well), however I can not

survive without thyroid hormones. I am literally scared to death.

I would think a doctor would be scared of making a patient ill, or killing

them. I became healthy by balancing all my hormones; before that I was in

agony forever. The transformation from what I was sans BHRT and Armour to

being on all that has been quite dramatic and remarkable.

I originally came onto this list because I was interested in the Wiley

Protocol... Getting my girly hormones to the levels they were when I was a

young'un sounded like a good idea. However, every woman is different, and

each woman's hormonal needs are also different. I learned that from this

list, and so I gave my body what it told me it needed (via symptoms), and

it has worked better than I ever thought it would. I am 54 and while ill I

looked like I was at least 70, but right now I look 36 and feel like a

teenager. The prospect of going back to the horrific health I used to

have, or die, has me terrified. I have to do a lot of " doctor dancing " in

the next 24 hours, so wish me luck.

Isn't it dangerous for the heart to abruptly stop thyroid meds? Don't they always recommend starting slowly and if they want to reduce dosage they recommend tapering off?

NO thyroid med and NO BHRT? What happens to a human being without a thyroid gland or ovaries that is not on any meds at all? Well, if I can't get any walk in clinic to Rx me anything tomorrow, I'll let y'all know.

you have back up Armour from offshore? I keep a couple of extra bottles

from the anti-agingsystems.com. I don't see how they can just

take you off your hormones like that. It's dangerous.

would just lower my progesterone to less than half of what I had been

taking (said that it was the FDA RDA for natural progesterone - idiot

doctor), and would only Rx me 4 grains of Armour, but she raised my

testosterone, if that makes sense. El retardo doctor...and I wondered

why she was working in a low cost clinic...there's a reason....brain

Yes, of course it's dangerous to abruptly stop, and for me (thyroidless),

it's deadly (fatal). I can't taper off a vital med, just as a type I

diabetic can not taper off insulin.

One thing I have learned from the internet is that blind-siding a patent

like this is, according to the AMA, is not advisable, and leaves the doctor

open to litigation if the patient is harmed (except if it's birth control).

It's almost time for me to go out visiting al the walk-in clinics in the

area...

Here is an update.

At 8am I was waiting at the door of Emergency Walk-in Clinic number one.

The doctor said he would not prescribe Armour Thyroid, and would only Rx

Synthroid even tho I told I nearly died when I took that med. He would not

Rx any bio-identical hormones, only Permarin. I gave him a piece of my mind

and asked if he was insane, then walked out.

At 8:20am I went to Emergency Walk-in Clinic number two. The doctor said he

would Rx Armour but one grain (I am on 11 grains), and absolutely no

hormones because " they cause cancer " . I gave him a little education on that,

but he said bio-identical hormones were a myth. I also asked if " he " was

insane and then walked out.

At 8:35am I went to Emergency Walk-in Clinic number three. The doctor said I

did not need any thyroid hormones even tho I had RAI in 1990 and seemingly

have no thyroid gland. He would not Rx any female hormones because he

doesn't believe in them and that I had better not ask for any birth control

pills (I have no uterus or ovaries) because " he doesn't play goD " . I didn't

ask him if he was insane, I told him he was and I then walked out.

At 9am I went to Walk-in Clinic number four, the original one I had gone to

on June 3rd. By this time I was quietly hysterical. I was not able to keep

the tears from flowing and I was scared to death. The PA took one look at

me, gave me a hug, and asked me what was wrong. I told him, and he said I

shouldn't worry, that he'd take care of me. And then he Rx'd me all the meds

I take, at the right doses, and gave me one re-fill. Then he called the

Broda ND in my town and I have an appointment with her on Sept 11th

at 9:30am. I have to pay cash for the ND (which I can NOT afford), but if I

don't have to go thru what I've just gone thru, it's more than worth it.

So I will live another month. THANK GOODNESS!!!!!!

It's amazing how little these some of these doctors know...I simply

can't believe it sometimes.

Then you find the ones worth thier wieght in gold or more.

Well, on the bright side, I found a Broda doc, well a ND, but

still....

Wish my insurance paid for ND's but, I'm going and I'm paying, and I'll just

have a bunch of garage sales to be able to afford her.

I was interviewed by the BB doc's office, and I was quite frank with them

about my self treating, ordering my own meds online, doing my own saliva

testing, and everything, plus the 'other'doctors " horror stories, and I was

told that I would be a vey good fit with them. So, it looks very promising,

however I'm not totally convinced, based on all my previous experiences...

I'd like to know how I can get the most out my BHRT, et al, and I'm banking

on the ND to help me with that. When I increase my Armour (I'm on 11

grains), more of my lost hair returns, and my skin gets better-er. so I

figure I'm either not optimized, or I am Iodine deficient (I know I am),

Iron deficient, have a slight Candida infection, or some other little thing.

Ya know? Who knows. There may be somethig I'm missing, but I feel pretty

darn awesome on what I am on now.

So, I will live another month or 2 without the interferance of bad

doctoring.

I had to go to the website to read this so maybe some others missed it

too.

This story is heartbreaking and inspirational. Bioidentical hormones

are a myth! Well, an endo in Seattle looked me right in the eye and

said " Everyone knows estrogen causes cancer. " I was stunned - too

stunned to even respond. Now I know my response really must be, " What

studies do you have to back that up? " .

Thank goodness you got what you wanted. Your perserverence is

inspirational. The " are you insane " part is funny. They just don't

know. My goal would be to have a packet on the website to print out and

take to docs. All published studies with summaries.
