Dad's Birthday

Today, October 19th is my Dad's 89th birthday. I am sure there is plenty of ice

cream and cake in heaven in his honor. Dad died shortly before his 88th

birhday.

I also want everyone, who has supported me, to know I am really doing well. I

realize that during the first year there were many firsts celebrated without my

Dad. i.e. the first Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, summer holidays, family

birthdays and anniversaries (sp) esp. Dad's death. I met these special

occasions with apprehension, but with your help, I got through all of them.

Surprisingly, after the first anniversary of Dad's death, I felt like a weight

weight had lifted from me.

I just want to thank everyone for your wonderful support. If you can, treat

yourself to my Dad's very favorite food, ice cream, and raise your spoon in a

birthday toast to my Dad, Dick Deverell.

Sincerely,

Gerry

Dear Gerry,

That is sweet and just for your Dad today on my way home from work I

will stop and get an ice cream sundae from the ice cream stand by my

house that I ride by every night and never stop...I want to but

trying to lose weight...and I will send up a prayer to your Dad and

my Dad who passed 6 years ago Sept...I believe they are all together.

My best and it does get better after that first year...

Aw Gerry, how sweet to hear from you. We just went through the first

Thanksgiving

without Mom, first in the series of special times to get through, so I know what

you mean.

Ice cream all around in honour of your dad's birthday.

I look forward to the feeling you describe of the weight being lifted off you.

The journey

isn't over yet.

Hi Gerry

I love ice cream and can't wait to celebrate. My mom

will be 84 on Saturday and my dad would have been 91

on Sunday. It's birthday month. Let's all party!!!

Dear Gerry,

I had an ice cream sundae tonight, as promised, and sent up a prayer.
