Guest guest
Hello The first ray of light I'll share is: you'll outgrow fibromyalgia! My neurologist said they don't know why, but old people don't have fibromyalgia! I said I'm 57, how old do I have to be~ Can't wait to be old:) I have raging fibromyalgia. It's had me in its paralyzing grip for years and I've used a wheelchair if I need to walk in something bigger than a 7-11 store:( I could go on and on about the miserable time I've had, about the family vacationing without me and about a husband leaving me after 40 years for someone healthy and happy:( BUT, I want to add some light at the end of your tunnels:) I found neuromuscular massage almost two years ago. I thought my legs were hard all of the way up because I used to be a dancer. Wrong. They, and my whole back were filled with scar tissue. I went for this neuro. massage 3x weekly for 6 months. At times it was so painful I thought I'd pass out and it was all I could do to keep from screaming BUT I wanted to dance again. Gradually the layers wore off. First, I had 'someone else's' back! No pain. Then somewhat later, my legs worked ~ all at once something DEEP gave way! I was supposed to go home, drink alot of water and rest BUT I went to the local gymn! I walked without a cane even! I could stand up straight and I did a few things at the gym I'm not sure I'd have done 'before'. !!! For about a week and a half the skies parted. If I hadn't been reinjured then, I believe I'd be walking, dancing and have my life back. I was reinjured, my insurance had maxed out, I had no money due to an impending divorce and now I have no money or insurance because of the finalization. BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS: MOST PEOPLE WITH FIBROMYALGIA DON'T KNOW ABOUT NEUROMUSCULAR MASSAGE & IT WORKS!!!!! P.S. Get a masseuse who's able to go gently at first, but can use alot of pressure and her Elbow later ~ that's what finally worked! And Always follow with alot of water! Also, someone told me that when you're resting, your knees have NO fluid?! I'd never heard that before. I'd get up in the night to go to the restroom, but the pain was so bad, that by the time I could get my knees going, something else was 'going'. Oops. Really aggravating. BUT all you have to do is some mild for of movement with your legs before you stand up. Even gently kicking the air. That brings the fluid right back and you'll feel no pain on standing. Really works!!! My other suggestion is NOT to get trigger point injections. Found out that just builds up MORE scar tissue and pain:( My heart goes out to you all. Try to talk to your minister or someone else your 'mate' is comfortable with before he/she walks too. In court my ex said there's Nothing Wrong With Me! He insinuated it was in my head! He bought my first wheelchair eight years ago! My neurologist came on the phone and clarified. Your mates need to know this is a real disease often paralleled with MS, in fact, I was told the MS Society and the Arthritis Foundation are trying to take it on so there'll be help and support for us. By the way, if you've fallen alot (or gotten knocked down over and over) that can cause fibromyalgia. Before the beloved insurance company paid in full for the automatic wheelchair/scooter, they asked if I'd had a history of falling. If they only knew:( For years I didn't report abuse because I knew he'd loose his job and my son and I'd loose our coveted health insurance and great life insurance policies we've had for years. Guess what. He left me because I was so sad from pain he caused. I now have no health insurance and he wiped out the life insurance policies leaving nothing for our beloved son's future. AND I found out there's something called a white collar law in Florida. He wouldn't have lost his job-in-the-sky. He'd have sat in jail in the evenings and week-ends! Thought I'd pass that along. Another wife told me most wives with fibromyalgia get left. . . their husbands can't take the misery we live in. If I can help you in any way just write me off-list. The legalities I've learned I'd be happy to share. May God hold you gently in his hands Kate

Guest guest
Kate, That is the first time that I have ever heard of FMS being out grown. I think i would have to disagree with your Doctor, not you *smile* on that one. I have heard though that people with FMS usually have a history of some sort of traumatic injury or emotional situation in their past. A sort of post traumatic stress response. mk wrote: > Hello > > The first ray of light I'll share is: you'll outgrow fibromyalgia! > My neurologist said they don't know why, but old people don't have > fibromyalgia! Guest guest
I think its alot more likely that its common that woman pick bad husbands! It isn't fair to blame a decease on a mans character flaws. Ever notice that women with FMS tend to be the kind of woman that wants to take care of everybody but themselves? That tends to attract men that want to be taken care of. When the woman is not longer able to powder their little bottoms they get their nose bent out of shape and go find a new mommy. Please understand that I am in no way cutting any woman down, with or without FMS. I just think that men that leave because of our problems were better off gone to begin with. r wrote: > hate to be a dud, but most spouses head out sooner or later. unless you have > a natural nurturer for a husband, i wouldn't hold my breath. i know that is > hard to hear...and i could be wrong but i am on a few lists and a few lists > too many are all women who have lost there men to these diseases because > they aren't able to deal with ending their lives as we have. the best thing > to do is to get involved with as many things as possible and stay involved. > then when he goes , you will at least have friends around you that > understand. > reality bites babe. get used to it. i am 43..have 3 kids, have been > diagnosed for less than3 years and he is living with a 24 yr old with a new > baby from some other guy and they are all very happy ...so if young and > healthy is what they want...i wonder who will be the one cleaning up the > drool or whatever...when they are old and grey or find themselves > incapacitated and no one wants them. does he really think that young babe is > gonna stick around? Guest guest
Certainly they will come up with some answers to improve quality of life or even a cure before some of these younger women start losing their husbands. Personally, I divorced mine a few years ago shortly before this developed for some good reasons, and I'm kind of lonely, but I'm so glad I don't have to deal with having a man to take care of right now. I've got my dog and my work and for now, that is enough. Oh, and I'm 54. Guest guest
To: <fibromyalgiacuredegroups> Sent: Saturday, January 06, 2001 5:20 PM Subject: Re: Walking~ long, important message I think its alot more likely that its common that woman pick bad husbands. *Women don't pick bad husbands. They pick young attentive, loving 'actors' that loose their facade after marriage.* It isn't fair to blame a decease on a mans character flaws. *First: the disease doesn't care if you blame it:) *Second: you can blame fibromyalgia on being hit and knocked down over and over Or squeezed until your back's injured for months-over and over. So I Can blame fibromyalgia on my ex's character flaws.* Ever notice that women with FMS tend to be the kind of woman that wants to take care of everybody but themselves? That tends to attract men that want to be taken care of. *I'd love to have had time to take care of myself, but I had two children on two different machines for almost two years. Then took care of his demented mother over and over for ten years While having severe pain and horrible health myself.* When the woman is not longer able to powder their little bottoms they get their nose bent out of shape and go find a new mommy. Please understand that I am in no way cutting any woman down, with or without FMS. *Glad to hear it. Life is extremely hard without us bashing each other:)* I just think that men that leave because of our problems were better off gone to begin with. *Probably true. But my son'd like to have had a father, I'd like to have had health insurance and at 57 I'd like to be helped out and perhaps be able to have something 'tucked' away for my future.* *Kate*
