--I have Uhc and was told that you have to get an approval or denial

first before you do anything. WE were denied because of an orthotics

exclusion. If yours is covered do you also have orthotics exclusion?

ANy help would help me out alot. Im working on my appeal. I live in

WI. The good news is they got back to us quickly with the denial so

we went ahead with it anyway!!!! Good Luck and keep us posted please

Danette,

Hmm, it might be correct depending on your policy. Usually insurance

companies require pre-certification. I would call them and ask specifically if

pre-cert is required prior to being treatment. Of course, the catch with

insurance companies is just because it is pre-certified doesn't mean it will be

covered. The claim still has to be submitted and reviewed and that cannot be

done until after the casting process has taken place.

You are very wise to cover all your bases with UHC. We have many members

here who have not been well treated by UHC. :-(
