Guest guest
>Dear all, I am an LCAT and LMHC working in a psychiatric hospital setting with both adults and adolescent's in both an inpatient and day treatment settting. In my life at home, I am a mother of an almost 16 year old who attends a city high school in upstate NY and is very involved in the theatre ensemble/drama club. For the past year, I have been involved with the theatre ensemble as a parent volunteer, helping with public relations for the plays. ( something I have some experience with). For this fall/winter season, the director of the High School Theatre Ensemble has chosen a controversial play that was written by middle school students and himself several years ago, and performed successfully at that time. The play is about teen suicide and the prevention of such, and is done both realistically and thoughtfully. The director has enlisted the help of Social workers, and staff from a suicide prevention hotline to be present at the performances, and during Post-play talks. Again, I think this is all being done very thoughtfully. Here's my question. As an LCAT and LMHC, do folks think there is any conflict with me helping to do PR for the play? Any other thoughts and suggestions for helping this to be a helpful event ? Thanks- Pamela Faith Lerman, M.Ed., ADTR, LCAT, LMHC
Guest guest
Hi, Pam! Wow, this sounds amazing, and I can hear your concerns, due to the loaded topic. You might want to suggest a "Q & A" at the end of each run of the play, to give the audience some time to process what they saw. It might also allow the educational aspect of the message of the play to be discussed. (and appease any alarmed parents!) Just a thought. Hope you are well! xo, JennPamela Lerman wrote: >Dear all,I am an LCAT and LMHC working in a psychiatric hospital setting with both adults and adolescent's in both an inpatient and day treatment settting. Guest guest
Thanks Jenn, Good to hear from you. It looks like you are still in NY. Are you staying here for a while? What are you up to? Things up here are very good workwise, but life keeps on trucking with other stressors. I seem to be getting through... What's new with you? PFL Hi, Pam!
