Soni not all children of autism are withdrawn and aloof they can

show affection and be to give eye contat at intervals and especially

if he is of a distant eye contact person/I to be to give eye contact

at a distance more so then ever face to face in any interation. I to

know many with ASD who are of affectionate on thems own terms and or

can accept attention from others to them. I to also see many who can

give a social smile from pictures and such of htem.

the other things to add is that usually in autism by 18 months signs

begin to emrge in ways parents begin to notice and the older and

more able to move aobut and gain access to things the more the world

becomes of stronger for them in autistic ways. And as they are

slowly being consumed by this autistic state it appears they to lose

some skills that parents to notice they had but no longer to be

doing. Some times it is language or speech, sometimes engagements or

relating, sometimes eye contact can slowly disappear over time, and

by the time many parents or professionals grasp that all teh little

things they were seing now matches up to the the disorder of autism.

And they to stand mistifyed by what happened ?????????? he /she used

to be to talk now doesnt, they use to play simply games and relate

to me now they do not ............this is autism who has just

clearly presented it self for what it is........ this is why it is

called the silent disability because it sneaks up on you in subtle

ways but all the subtle buildinto a moutian of concern and by this

time the child is already in what some would say the full blown

autistic state. When little subtle thing syou are seeing begin ,

intervention quickly is hte key to be to help the child so he/she

can learn to their potential.
