Guest guest
Hi EileenBenzoates are E210-218. Parabens are the same. I got my original information from the hyperactive childrens support group. In most liquid medicines as a preservative and also most skin care products, even sudocrem and E45 - also most suncreams. I understand that if benzoates are a problem salicyaltes are also likely to be as they use the same pathway. No fenol has helped us imensley with salicylates - we have never added benzoates back. I think they can occur naturally in some foods but I can't put my hand on list - was only an internet list though. For Charlie they also cause urticaria type rash that looked like eczema to begin with but then got really bad. He was at his worse when on reflux and gut motility meds. BWAlison Alison have you got any good links on benzoates, they have always been high on Jay's OAT test so he's getting them from somewhere. I want them out! I thought they were in his juice, so I cut that out, didn't have an effect. The marker makes me uneasy because it always seems to work with the marker for bacteria (Hippuric Acid) Jay was on Nystatin for quite a long time.
