Makenna got her second cast this yesterday in Chicago. It was so nice to be

surrounded by friends - Chrissy and Cara! The dads got to talk, too and of

course the kids played. It definately made the day that much easier.

The second time around was better for Makenna. Although, she still woke up

pretty mad, she wasn't quite as pissed off as last time LOL! She just wanted the

IV out. But of course, she had to drink some apple juice first...and then the

battle began. Trying to reason with a drugged two year old is not a challege

that I willingly take on, but I did my best. I ended up force feeding her the

apple juice so we could just take the IV out and be done with it.

At least this time she wasn't kicking and screaming while they taped. She

actually fell asleep while they taped her tummy. She was back to normal last

night. She so enjoyed her time out of cast and the many, many baths that she

took! so she has asked several times to take a bath, but we are all on the same

page (even the 5 year old)... redirect, redirect, redirect:)

Last time we were at 25 degrees and casted at zero. This cast was 21 out of cast

and again casted at zero. So I am very happy with the 4 degrees, and, of course

estatic that she is able to be casted at zero. Her curve seems to be very

flexible. I was wondering what kind of results others with flexible curves have

been able to get. I know it all depends on each child and it's hard to say what

will happen in each case, but just thought I'd get some idea of what to expect.

We also recently confirmed that there is an underlying neurological/genetic

syndrome. They don't know what causes the scoliosis, but it sounds likely to be

neuromuscular. What kind of results are others with nueromuscular scoliosis

getting?

Amy,mom to Makenna (2 1/2 years) and Abby (5)
