Guest guest
Nothing major, just curious ('s post reminded me to ask) -- after 's two gastroenteritis episodes in one month, now her belly periodically looks distended. I mean, not just the normal toddler pot belly. She complains " tummy hurts " once in a while too, especially when eating sugary snacks, which she never did before. Also, when she says that sometimes I assume she just needs to go poop because her tummy would hurt right before the diarrhea when she had the GI stuff and I figured she just got into that habit of announcing it that way. She does NOT have diarrhea or anything, but she does complain now sometimes when she needs to poop, as if it isn't comfortable or she expects it to hurt coming out. She's a very picky eater but always has been, though her weight is down a little after the second GI bug. But she's always done great growth-wise and she's quite tall. Any thoughts? It doesn't seem to be a big deal, as she appears to be very healthy right now but I figure I'd ask the experts. It's so hard to figure out toddlers sometimes and I don't want to let anything get by. Also, a warm WELCOME to all the new members! (mom to , age 2. Diagnosis next Monday!! But for now we'll call it --antibody def, IgA def, partial T-cell def (CD3 & CD19) [not on IGIV yet])
Guest guest
, Are you sure she's not constipated? I had this problem with Autumn last year for a while. I never would have guessed it was constipation because she had at least 1 bm every day. Finally, after a week of her constant complaining that her stomach hurt & her stomach being distended, we did an x-ray & found out she was almost completely blocked. The ped asked us to do enemas for 2 days, try mineral oil (I didn't like the possibility she could aspirate it into the lungs & quit using it after a day), and then we switched to Senekot. Finally, after 1 week of this at home, she was clear. We continued the Senekot for about 2 months just to be safe. Just a thought. . . Guest guest
Hi kelly, I kind of think she may be a little gassy. We all get that way sometimes? Also, since she isn't eating all that much, her tummy prolly puffs from that. Just a thought. Glad she is feeling better! Traci-Sydni's mom, the baby w/ ??? Also, I keep forgetting to welcome all the new members!

Guest guest
, thank you for the constipation suggestion, I didn't think of that! After the gastro bug we all had, I myself had a rebound constipation thing, so it's certainly possible did, too. I'm thinking that that IS what it is, because the past two days or so has been Poopy Pooperton -- I can't believe how much she's going. It's not diarrhea, I think she was just FULL! And Traci, thanks for the gas suggestion, I've given her Infant Mylicon a couple of times in case it's that, too. And I must brag again, and share my happiness -- has been completely healthy for 12 days in a row! Each day feels like a gift after the past three months! (mom to , age 2, antibody def, IgA def, partial T-cell def (CD3 & CD19) - not on IGIV yet)

Guest guest
can being on augmentin cause a " big " belly? Sydni has such a pot belly the last few days! She has been on it for almost a week. I don't recall her ever having a problem. She also has been spitting up, which she stopped doing months ago.YUCK!! This was BEFORE the antibiotic, so I can't blame that. Thank you to all who answer my very many questions! Traci-Sydni's mom
