Guest guest
Hello UNDA world, Wanted to get some thoughts on a new patient I saw yesterday. She is 62 yo and first went through menopause around 47. She had not had a menses in over 12 years. Had some symptoms at the time, but not terrible. Over the past year and a half, she has started cycling again, all be it irregular - every month to every other month or so. Her docs have done endometrial biopsies, US etc... and say everything is normal. I have not seen any test results nor does she really remember having much bloodwork done. They now have her on some hormone replacement with vivelle dot and prometrium. Tried doing progesterone withdrawal to create a cycle but didn't apparently work. So now on prometrium QD with out cycling. Otherwise, she is healthy. I am waiting to get records but in the meantime, wanted to pick some brains. Could it be an adrenal tumor secreting excess hormones? Not sure if she is actually ovulating either. Pituitary? Any thoughts? Have you seen a woman start cycling after 12 years? Thanks for any feedback. R. Abraham, ND Tigard, OR
