Guest guest
Thanks to everyone who gave my leads on how to deal with this situation. I had been taking lysine faithfully, which I forgot to mention in my original post, so I know it wasn't the lysine connection at work. What came to mind from various responses, though, was that I had been eating nuts again- almonds and hazel nuts. . I had stopped eating any nuts at all for many months, and then forgot that they were a trigger for me! The good news is that as soon as I realized what was happening, I increased my lysine and used my laser pen every 15 minutes. This outbreak was ultra, ultra mild and very short. So....keep your laser pens handy, folks. Herpes can be stopped in it's tracks. And as for me, I will have to remember to avoid nuts. I am going to take Jim's advice and hit the probiotics trail, too. I am still seeking input about whether DHEA, as a hormone enhancer, has any side effects. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Thanks, folks. Guest guest
Dear Phyllis, Nuts are a good arginine source, probably causing the lysine/arginine unbalance. Taking actual DHEA long term is not a good idea. The body will reduce its own production, making you dependent on supplementation. I know a doctor who did this, and it eventually became a serious addiction. Better to take the precursors and let the body do its own thing. Best of health! Guest guest
Phyllis, Are you eating raw or roasted nuts? It might be important. As for DHEA, taken in an appropriate dose, say 50 mg DHEA with 25 prgenenelone, should have no big negatives. I also prefer things like this with as many cofactors as possible & there are several companies attending to this niche. There is a distinct difference between end-use hormones like esrogen , testosterone & most of the earliest hormones available. But, DHEA & pregnenelone are source hormones, which the body can convert into any of the many other hormones it needs. Taken in reasonable, balanced doses, they should not cause problems. If you will get on either a daily regimen of probiotics or cayenne, I believe that nothing will trigger a herpes outbreak. My view of disease is that there are at least several necessary ingredients to any symptom, and removing any or many of the necessary ingredients affords reliable protection. I have never known anyone, in over 25 years of recommending probiotics, who got an outbreak while on a probiotic maintenance schedule. We need probiotics daily because we are supposed to get them daily on our veggies from the garden outside our window. Nature didn't realize we would someday kill all our food & friendly bacteria before we ate it. ;-) jim Freeman wrote: >Thanks to everyone who gave my leads on how to deal with this situation. >I had been taking lysine faithfully, which I forgot to mention in my >original post, >so I know it wasn't the lysine connection at work.
