Guest guest
Hi Guys, Just wanted to share a little success with you all. Most of you know that for the last eight months I have been eating lots of junk (choc, lollies, ice-cream, chips and dips etc) and have been doing no exercise at all. Since banding in Aug 05 and Christmas I had lost 20kgs, which is fantastic, but since then I have been sabotaging myself at every opportunity. Well last week 2 things happened. I had to make the final payment for my cruise in Nov and I read the great post Ghyll uploaded stating all the banding rules and guidelines. All of which I already knew but just decided to stop abiding by. So last Thur I decided that I was going to start playing by the rules. I made up a chart on the PC counting down the then 9 weeks till the cruise where I can chart my progress and stuck one on the fridge and one in the bedroom right above the scales. I weighed in last Friday morning at 105kgs and decided that my pre-cruise goal would be 98kgs. I have been dying to crack into double figures since Xmas as I sat on 102kgs for months. I thought 7kgs in 9 weeks was achievable and not to exaggerated. So this week I have been doing what I should have since day 1. I eat majority protein, first followed by veg. This keeps me full (to the top) and not thinking about food for 5+ hrs. I am not hungry between meals and as a result (with a little will power) I have a no choc, chips, crap at all. No cravings. I have been drinking more water and have exercised 3 times. I had been weighing myself every other day and knew I was losing but this morning for my official weigh in I was 103.2. I nearly fainted -1.8kg in 1 week. I wrote it on my chart with a smile and am amazed at how easy it has been, just by following the rules. I think the major factor that is eating protein. I had an eye fillet with béarnaise sauce. Cooked rare and chewed well. I then struggled to get through the veg. But the pin really dropped when I got into bed at 11.30pm and I was still full. Normally I eat lentil soup or a lean cuisine or a plate of mashed potato or potato bake and then later I have graze on choc, ice-cream, a large glass half full with Milo and milk or all of the above. This goes on all night, just think of all those extra calories and fat grams. And when I have Mon/Tue off I graze like that all day long. If it wasn't for the band I am sure I would have gained all the lost weight twice over. Tonight's dinner was 2 boiled eggs and few slices of deli ham. I have heard everyone on this board saying to eat the protein first but I never did it. When I think back to my new diet this week I have had very little carbs and I think this is also a factor as I am without doubt a carb addict. But I haven't been searching them out because I am satisfied. Now please keep your fingers crossed for me that I can learn from this light bulb experience and continue with the good work over the coming 8 weeks. I really want to do a beginners scuba dive in Fiji but currently there is no way I can fit these size 22 hips into a wetsuit. But I don't want to miss out. So if I can loose another 6- 10kgs before I go I might be able to squeeze into an 18-20. (Do they even make wetsuits that big? I was thinking I might be able to get some custom made wet shorts?? And then just wear a rash vest. Does anyone know if this is a possibility or am I fooling myself?) Sorry to blab on for so long. is away again and I'm bored. Friday night home alone, very sad, but hey. I'm meeting up with fantastic group of gals for lunch on Sunday and we always have a ball! Aren't you jealous now? Wait a minute; you are those girls.... hee hee hee Hope you are all well. My parting words- EAT MORE PROTEIN!! Love & Best wishes....... Guest guest
that is fantastic news about your weight loss and yes protein is a wonderful thing. It really helps alot. If you are stuck for recipes (don't want you to get bored with just plain protein - got to www.Atkins.com) - they have hundreds of fantastic ideas. It was lovely to see you yesterday and I am sure a rash suit will be fine in the warm waters of the South Pacific, so wouldn't worry about having to squeeze into a wet suit. Keep the the good work - you are an inspiration with your achievements and motivational story.
