When a member violates the TOS, I am left to doing one of several options. I can

report them to Yahoo for violation of TOS or I can remove or ban them from the

group.

If I report them to Yahoo, they are subject to deletion of their accounts as

judged by the Yahoo staff.

I feel that the kinder, gentler way of handling the problem is to moderate, and in

some cases remove said member from our board if their actions do not desist.

My job as Owner is to make this a safe place for all. For the good of the whole.

My position here is of a non-paid,volunteer nature as that of the other Owner of

this group and that of all the moderators.

It would do for all the members to review the TOS of Yahoo from time to time to

keep updated on what is acceptable for members.

The lastest situation was a violation of TOS, and did not stop when asked by the

Owner of this group and two moderators. The individual was warned and did not

respond to our pleas, except to continue in the same course of action he had

previously taken.

Here is a the portion of the TOS that he violated.

To Chefboy:

Let's see....over the past two days, I have been called not just a

liberal (plus a few choice words),and a know-it-all, but also (at

another forum)destructive, a back stabber, forum ripper, I turn

friends against one another, halt the progress of those infected, or

who were infected, and every word I say is false.

If this is ego stroking, I'd hate to hear the insults.

Step into my shoes my friend....but first, get a grip, because the

ride may be wild.

You are WAY out of line, Chefboy. Lighten up. Tell us something

honest

about yourself, the individual. What is going on with you? Relating

your personal story will only make you friends.

  • 3 years later...

I would also suggest that we have weekly facilitators (or a round robin of

facilitators) so it's not always up to one person to be in charge..

Let me know when and where! :) 9PM or later is also better for me.

(unless you can all just upload a discussion into my brain)

Hi all

I am interested in this but think realistically we should either try to set up a

new yahoo group, or maybe a facebook group.  I would be glad to help moderate

either one of these.  The problem with a live call is the time zone and schedule

issue which makes it so difficult to coordinate, and I also think it would be

difficult to find a service that would be free for several of us to call into.

I am not sure if skype allows conference calling with high numbers of attendess

for free or not- of someone knows that let me know. The problem still is that I

am on the west coast and am not home until 7:30pm most nights during the week,

and that is just too late for the midwest and east coast people.

Anyway, thoughts on this?

Thanks

Anne
