Guest guest
Hey Doris! I'm wondering if your mother had a blood pressure drop despite lying down. Can she call someone in to take her BP if this happens again? 24 hour assistance? I have a cuff if you or Freda need to borrow it. Digital, very easy to use. > > Hi Everyone, > > It's me with another question. > > I talked to my mom today and she said that in the night while she was in bed, she woke up and the room was going around and around. Guest guest
Going round and round....it happened to me and I have Vertigo. It happened to my husband's mother and she had an ear infection. Just some possibilities. Guest guest
Hi Myrna, Actually that's a good idea (the ear infection) to consider. Will look into that too. doris myrnajohnson wrote: Going round and round....it happened to me and I have Vertigo. It happened to my husband's mother and she had an ear infection. Guest guest
Doris, there are several reasons a person can have the spinning dizzies. I would first appeal you to take your mother to her doctor. The doctor will ask questions and run test to determine what caused it. Was it a stroke or TIA? Is it Meniere's disease? Is it a problem of loose debris in the inner ear, such as cells or proteins that have moved around? That is the most common problem. I have a spinning sensation, that the room is whirling around very fast, sometimes. I have had ear trouble all my life, with a pretty bad hearing loss. I have learned to make myself turn my head often and a lot, to make the dizzies subside a bit. It also leaves faster, not lingering on as a severe problem for up to three months. It can make a person pretty sick, but shaking that debris back in place is what I have to do to get better. I am sure you wouldn't second guess your mother's problem. Guest guest
Ditto for me as well. I seem to be highly susceptible to Vertigo. I keep a bottle of Meclizine (motion sickness medication) around to take when I start spinning. I usually also need to take an anti-biotic, and a diuretic, to help drain fluid from my ears. I have fallen out of bed by just rolling over, with no advance warnings. Wake up in the morning and BOOM, out of the bed I go. Guest guest
Hi Lizzie, Dizzie Doris here. Can you tell me more? Was your mom up and about when it happened? Was there any nausea? There was none with my mom. Mom had no repeat of it yesterday. It just happened when she was in bed. When I asked her some more probing questions, she described it as everything being 'wavy'. But she was having trouble describing the whole thing. This is becoming common these days. Actually, last evening when I asked her if she had been dizzy again during the day, she responded with, " When was I dizzy " . When I reminded her, it was " Oh yes, I remember. " Any light you could shed would be appreciated. Doris Cowie wrote: Hi Doris, Dizzie Lizzie here from Kingston. Mum has had a few minor episodes of being dizzy. Guest guest
Thanks Sandie. Actually mom has fallen out of bed several times also. We put it down to REM sleep disorder. We will get her ears checked out, or whatever the doctor can check. Last night she slept well. No wobblies or dizzies. Hopefully it won't happen again. But we will be on the alert. Thanks for answering my question. Doris Sandie wrote: Ditto for me as well. I seem to be highly susceptible to Vertigo. Guest guest
Hi Imogene, We will definitely check things out with the doctor. Thanks to all of you who have responded. We have a lot of ideas to bring to the doctor. Doris Iward27663@... wrote: Doris, there are several reasons a person can have the spinning dizzies.
