Guest guest
This is a bit of an odd thing to celebrate ... but I thought I'd share it with you all anyway. I couldn't be a nurse to save my life ... I don't cope with bodies and 'bodily fluids' at all. But since dad has started needing help with the toilet and using incontinence pads [uS translation needed please ] I realised that if I don't learn to cope with it he'll never leave his nursing home again. So his nh showed me how, and sorted out changes of clothes and fresh pads and gloves and wipes and a whole sackful of stuff. And today I've been able to take dad on a 70 mile trip to see his sister. They were both so pleased to see each other and I'm sure will both feel better as a result. Dad coped well with my fumbling and awkwardness and helped as much as he could. It's opened up other possibilities of going out for days. I'm sure lots of others around here just take something like that in their stride, but I don't. I could have run the London marathon and not been more surprised and pleased with myself
