Guest guest
Hi Tina, I have gotten my information from the IDF " primer from physicians " I specifically looking for this because of all of Lucas bowel problems. I am going to the GI armed with the information since he has been scoped twice since he was only 3 months old. They did not have a definitive diagnosis except for exceptional diffuse bowel irritation and high levels of eosinophils in the biopsy. He thinks the bleeding is from higher up. I will keep you posted. BARBIE
Guest guest
Tina, Both of my children suffer from severe constipation on an ongoing basis. They are on liquid paraffin (Parachoc) and Duphalac daily. Late last year was investigated for Hirschprungs (sp) because of the constipation and it resulting in near complete obstruction of the upper intestines just after the duodenum. She suffered from anal fissures from the time solids were introduced into her diet as a baby. has had the same troubles with constipation from a very early age also, with anal bleeding from internal fissures and it was only recently that his stools went back to a normal colour after 5 months of WHITE! , mum to (3) and (5), both with selective IgA def, dysfunctional antibody def, asthma, hypothyroidism
Guest guest
HI Barbie, Thought I would comment on the GI topic that is at hand. If Lucas's eosinophils are very high on the biopsy then I would strongly encourage you to inquire about the possibility of eosinophilic colitis (if in the colon) or eosinophilis gastritis (if in the stomach). We went through this very same thing over the summer. There is a specific treatment for these disorders and they can be connected to some food allergies. The treatment can vary from an elemental diet to daily use of Gastrocrom or Prednisone. There is an expert out of Cincinnati Ohio on EE, EG and EC by the name of Dr. Phil Putnam. He is supposedly the best in this field. I do not know of the relationship between EG, EE, or EC and CVID if any, but I do know that people with extremely abnormal high levels of eosinophils are suspect for any of these conditions. Just thought I would offer this information as it might prove to be helpful.
