Guest guest Posted December 18, 2005 Report Share Posted December 18, 2005 hi im wondering if anyone has used clozeral for controlling hallucinations. my mom is on 300 mil a day of seraqual. which does help but she still has alot of hallucinations/paranoia. this clozeral is suppose to be a very strong drug which has a small chance of causing a blood disease that could kill her, dr's say she has to go into dr's ofc everyweek for blood draws. im trying to figure out if there is something stronger then seroqual before go to this other drug. my mom was actually diagnoised in 2004 with pd but within one yr she went down fast. she gets around slowly sometimes needing help. she tries to do what she can but for the month i have had her i see things got worse. she did start taking klonipin for the restless leg syndrome but just a 1/2 mil of this medication. she finally does sleep and we get some rest now but i dont know if the klonipin is what caused her to get really bad in just over a month in my house. she is use to staying at my sisters up north 2 sisters live together and the other married one lives in nj and 1 in calif we are now all trying to take turns with her till the holidays are over and then get a nurse that will bleed her dry of money in no time. i wish i can figure this all out. im not sure what stage she is in. since she was only diagnoised in 2004 the dr said she has had it for awhile but he could not say how long. she was doing real good up until a few months ago. and she is getting worse raidly. i here she should stay at one place and not be passed around from house to house. well when u have siblings how can u not pass her around we all need to help her. my job with my mom for now will be over on weds when i take her home. i dont know how people do full time. i am so stressed that i am covered with hives and atopic dermititas i feel bad that i feel i will not be able to handle this again and she is my mom. i tell my children if that happened to me just put me away. it did not help that it was bad timing for me. my daughter was hurt in aug too riding on the back of a quad and got hit by a truck i spent 10 days with her in hospital never left her except to smoke 20 cigarettes. and as of today the leg is still not heeled, the fracture tibia just is not healing. then my good friend was rush to hospital for clogged arteries in his heart. thank god he is doing well well i quess that is all for now anyone know about the meds please respond thank u so much from stressed out covered in hives girl in florida Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We are currently using a doctor that studied in Poland and he suggested Alluna for sleeping and that works great. (and it is natural). I will try the St. 's Wart for the mood swings/depression. She was diagnosed a year ago also, but she has had this illness for much longer than that. She is being given Ativan for her agitation, but I don't think she should be on Ativan and I certainly wouldn't recommend your mom being on it. I think it may help at the time, but when it wears off, her agitation is worse and she seems very depressed. Guest guest Posted January 5, 2006 Report Share Posted January 5, 2006 , I had to move to natural meds when ever possible. Mom couldn't use prescription very well. I also used Melatonin for sleep. I still use it for myself. After not sleeping with Mom being up 48 hours at a time for 3 years, I still have bad sleep habits. So I use Melatonin. Also natural. And because I use it, I know I have no noticable side effects. It doesn't necessarily keep me asleep for long periods, but it puts me to sleep. I still think they are over medicating the LBD patient because the medical field doesn't understand how hard they are on LBD. I have also used the St 's, and it has just a slight effect. I wanted to say that for most drugs and recommendations, there is no set time frame. Maybe for many people GENERAL guidelines work.. My guess is that many people in about 2 years find the drugs not as effective. I think this was for me and is a day by day process. As I am sure you have heard many times over, everyone really responds differently to drugs. My Mom couldn't take any. She reacted strongly to any of them.. Usually working with your MD, you can find something else that works. Or many times people find what they once needed, there is not much more of a problem when the drugs are eliminated.
