Guest guest
Sonya, Sorry you had a hard time at PT. I think sometimes they push a little too much. They have no idea what kind of pain your in. I try to not take my pain meds when I go to the doctor, but gosh that would be awful to try to do PT without pain meds. Do what makes you feel better, that is the way I would do it. Guest guest
Agreed! I have this pt guy right now and I think he thinks he's been hired to SAVE me by giving me this great exercise plan to lose weight DUH, I'm there for my NECK! He wants me to stretch my busitis hip, do 20 minutes a day on the bike, wear tennis shoes instead of my super comfortable trotter sandles, etc. The only reason I go is for the neck traction so once I get a home unit he can stuff his hip stretches. I'm up to 15 minutes on the bike but not without a T3 before hand. much love, barb k. tdianaok wrote: Sonya, Sorry you had a hard time at PT. I think sometimes they push a little too much. Guest guest
Barb, Let him know your limits. If your there for your neck, that is what he should be focusing on. I will be glad when you can have your home unit, and not deal with him. My rheumy has wanted me to start PT, and I'm just not ready for it. So, the last few times, he'll say, " have you started PT " , no not yet. So, he's stopped asking. I am not going to be pushed, I know my limits. Good luck, and do what you feel you can, and make sure you take your pain meds:) Take care, and hugs, Tawny > > > > Hey Guys, > > > > I started physical therapy a few weeks ago and last week my > therapist said > > shouldn't take my pain medicine before I come to PT, because then > she > > doesn't know what hurts me. Guest guest
Well I clued him in yesterday. Told him I wasn't gonna do the hip stretches b/c they HURT! I want to concentrate on my neck - he was ok with that. When I get a home traction set up he says I should do 3 x's a day for 10 minutes - this makes me realize how futile going 2x a week for 15 minutes is! REminds me that I have to call home health! much love, barb k. tdianaok wrote: Barb, Let him know your limits. If your there for your neck, that is what he should be focusing on. Guest guest
Go Barb!!!! Guest guest
Ya well, we people in pain can be pretty testy!! I have ordered the home traction unit and will be getting that early next week. I had an appt for pt tomorrow but cx'd that b/c I have to take my mom to a funeral for the 45 year old son of one of her friends. He was found in his apt and autopsy revealed a grapefruit size tumor in his lungs. He had been sick for 2 weeks. Yesterday we had a bomb scare here at work so the tension and such totally blew out my body. I'm tight and knotted up which is killing my herniated neck disc today. Can't take flexeril at work - knocks me right out or at best makes me loopy. I forgot to bring some valium so I have T3 for the pain. I hate not treating the symptoms with the right meds. I'm supposed to ride 10 minutes a day on my bike - didn't do it yesterday! Will try to get to it after work today. much love, barb k. tdianaok wrote: Go Barb!!!! Guest guest
I am glad you are alright, I can imagine how scared you were of a bomb threat. After all that's going on in the world, it's scary. I take Flexeril too, I take it at bedtime, it makes me real tired. The Neurontin is working great. I have no side effects at all. I'm glad your getting your home unit, that will be so nice. I'm very sorry for the loss of that young man. It's so sad, and I know the family is devastated. Please know, I will keep you, and the family in my prayers. Take care, and a big hug for you, Tawny > > > > > > > > Hey Guys, > > > > > > > > I started physical therapy a few weeks ago and last week my > > > therapist said > > > > shouldn't take my pain medicine before I come to PT, because > then > > > she > > > > doesn't know what hurts me. Guest guest
I'm doing a lot better now, I've taken 2 Tylenol #3 today and am doing good. Only a couple more hours and I'm done until Monday thank goodness. I don't have any side effects from the neurontin either, works wonderful for me. I did forget to bring my afternoon dose with me yesterday and that coupled with the bomb scare did me in. I'm all set for today though and once I get home there's already some leftovers for dinner and I'm free to rest. I do feel badly for the mom of the young man who passed away, she's had a very difficult couple of years and now this. much love, barb k. tdianaok wrote: I am glad you are alright, I can imagine how scared you were of a bomb threat. Guest guest
Hello group! I haven't posted for a long time. My mother had a triple bypass surgery and the surgeon found an anerysm during the surgery. I had to stay by her side in the hospital as the nurses were too busy comparing their hairdos and manicures. Stress just activates my symptoms greatly. Somebody had posted a checklist for fibro and CFS. What scared me.. I had almost every symptom except impotence and I sure hope that doesn't happen since I am female lol.... I just want to thank everyone for their positive posts...they do get me through the rough times. Be happy... Thank you. tdianaok wrote: I am glad you are alright, I can imagine how scared you were of a bomb threat. After all that's going on in the world, it's scary. Guest guest
, your mom is lucky to have you! Whether the nurses are too busy gossipping, or too busy with too many patients, it's crucial to have someone there watching, listening, and ready to advocate for you should the need arise. (With my sister, it was either " gee, do you think feeding regular jello to a diabetic is a bad idea? " or " hey, she's been vomiting for six hours, her throat's a little raw for the spicy tomato soup " . D'uh.) Especially when you're feeling so lousy yourself, to go and be with your mother... hooray for you, and lots of (gentle) hugs! -- > > Hello group! I haven't posted for a long time.
