I finally got a doctor to prescribe the biaxin she needs and will give it to her long term. I will keep you posted as to how she is doing.

Thanks for listening Kathy

Kathy,

I'm glad you were able to find someone!

I read the whole article for which you sent the link. It was very interesting.

Thanks for the information and the link!

Kathy,

THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing this information. I will anxiously

look forward io news about your mother. I'm just curious, what type

of Lyme Test did they do on her? I've read these things aren't very

accurate. I think there are a couple of tests; the ELISA test and

the Western Blot test. I've read several accounts online of people

who had to be tested several times before it showed Lyme. Although I

would think that as long as your mother has been ill (29 years) that

if it was Lyme it would definitely show up on a test by now. You

might consider trying to find a Lyme Specialist in your area, if

there is such a thing. The following are a couple of Lyme links you

might look at.

Once again thanks for giving this small glimmer of hope. I say small

because I doubt many doctors are going to jump on the bandwagon and

start prescribing antibiotics for MS. Funny how restrained they can

be about this sort of thing when they aren't the ones suffering.

Please keep us posted.

.. Of

all the stuff I've looked at on the internet I've

never heard of anyone using antibiotics to treat MS.

Yappy and Kathy,

There are some doctors who use antibiotics to treat MS - Dr. Sriram is one of them. There used to be a guy on this List or Karan's Korner, who was on antibiotics for MS. I can't remember the name of his doctor, but he was well known.

Kathy,

I really hope you get some attention focused on this.

Have you considered contacting Dr. Sriram at

Vanderbilt University with your story? Your situation

with your mother is a fantastic example. I'm just

sorry you have to be in that situation to begin with.

You may be right about doctors being aware of this but

I'm pretty sure they aren't taking it seriously. Of

all the stuff I've looked at on the internet I've

never heard of anyone using antibiotics to treat MS.

Wouldn't it be something if they discovered it would

take something as simple as long term, high level

doses of antibiotics to treat it? It would make the

so-called experts look pretty silly. I guess I'm a

cynic but even if it slapped them in the face they

probably would poo-poo it. It's sort of like the

article about Dr. Sriram says; somebody wants to make

a name for themselves (and big bucks) by finding the

cure.

I still wish you the best of luck.

Yappy

Kathy,

How long is she going to have to take the antibiotics?

Thanks for the info about Vanderbilt. What did they

tell you when you called them? Do you think you might

end up going there to get the Rifampin?

I think the idea about Montel is good also.

Yappy

HELLO,

I WAS READING THE E-MAILS ON BIAXIN AND ANTIBIOTICS. I HAVE BEEN GETTING ANTIBIOTICS FOR YEARS BY JUST CALLING MY NEUROLOGIST AND TELLING HIM I AM SICK (SORE THROAT, SINUS, ETC) AND HE PRESCRIBES THEM. JUST BECAUSE HE DOES NOT AGREE WITH WHAT I AM TREATING AND HOW IT MAKES ME FEEL DOES NOT STOP ME FROM GETTING WHAT I NEED. WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO TREAT MY M.S. I DONT LET ANYONE GET IN MY WAY, INCLUDING DOCTORS.

TAKE CARE

KIM

My Mom has been on Biaxin now for 51 days. She is doing great.

She went from doing nothing ...

not talking or even knowing what is going on around her to talking...

Sentenances now..reading and she is starting to remember things now

too.

She is beginning to use her hands and arms a little too.

We are doing physical therapy for those things. We are also

considering speech therapy since it has been about 10 years since she

talked. So she is talking but you can't always understand what she is

trying to say. She will repeat it however till you figure it out.

For those of you who want to see what we are following check out

Its really going well ! I think we will be going public (more public

then this) soon. I am really excited about her results.
