Guest guest
Hello Stan: I was reading a post the other day on the LDN yahoo group from Dr. JM. I may mis-interpret what she said, (please bear with me) but my understanding was that so many people were asking if they should do LDN and valtrex together. She was not necessarily discouraging people to NOT use them together, but she did say that they work on viral issues in different ways. We have been on LDN for 6 months for our son. Initially, he has such a great response, similar to your son. He had fevers and got better with each fever. I had heard that it takes about 6 months to see the full effects of LDN...and we are not at the 6 month mark. I was wondering...tell me if I have this right. Valtrex draws out the viruses so the body can battle them. LDN is an immune modulator..and helps the body's immune system to tackle viruses and other pathogens. Could LDN also produce a healing regression similar to valtrex? Especially at the 6 month mark? Am I making any sense? Our son has a horrible case of the flu. He has regressed terribly. Very OCD like, inflexible, routine, repeating the same thing over and over and over...very emotional and he looks more autistic now than he did 15 months ago before we even started biomed. I cried to work today, thinking that I lost our son again. I remember you talking about how badly your son also regressed when starting valtrex. Could this be a healing regresson? He was doing very well with chelation...even had his best therapy ABA session ever until the flu. Now, he is so lost. I guess I now see that his OCD behaviors are viral, but I dont know what to do at this point. Any advice? Thanks....Kim
Guest guest
If a virus took my child out, I would make sure to include antiviral therapy in the recovery strategy. You have it down pretty well. LDN is an immune modulator that helps the immune system to return to normal and lessening autoimmunity. The hope is that the immune system can then aquire the smoldering unmanged virus. Valtrex stops the ability for the virus to replicate and it seems to help methylation and detox. Personally, I would consider an immune modulation AND an antiviral therapy especiallly if you didn't get a fulll recovery from LDN all by itself. You certainly CAN have Valtrex onboard with LDN but it might be Dr. JMs preference to keep LDN on its own to see what is doing what. If you feel your child might benefit from an antiviral, which to me would make sense based on your child regressing from a virus, then I think you should consider it. Just my opinion. - Stan > > Hello Stan: I was reading a post the other day on the LDN yahoo > group from Dr. JM.
