One of our children, one who doesn't have autism, had scarlet fever. I believe it is related to strep and therefore bacterial not viral.

aftermath question?

stan what is your opinion of once the viruses leave the body, what types of supports for the immune system should be implemented? some continue to give the whole whack of supplements etc. and others have reduced to just a few they feel are still deficient in the body. also here is something i just remembered with our son during his recovery process, at one point we thought he was having an allergic reaction to an anti seizure med but our great neurologist said im going to test him for scarlett fever because it seems like a similiar rash, though he said he had not seen a case in 20 or more years!!!. would scarlett fever be considered a viral infection? and could the interventions we were using at the time bring this out if it was in there laying dormant, though none of our protocal was antiviral related yet the body healing could then address it because of the new ability to detox and methylation pathways?? appreciate your insight!!! thanks, lisa

Wow! This is very interesting, and confusing.

My son Nick developed a rash about 1 week after starting Valtrex. I

figured it was viral die off. But then when I talked with our DAN

doctor she said the rash sounded like scarlett fever/strep (which is

a bacteria). It was a very fine sandpaper like rash, flesh colored

and didn't itch or hurt.

Could it be that with the Valtrex suppressing the viruses, the strep

bacteria (which may have been in his system for a long time) was

able to start busting out?

On the other hand, all school year long, there have been strep

throat notices sent home from all 3 of my kids' teachers.

It's so hard to figure some of these things out during the school

year when viruses and bacteria are always going through the schools.

What do you think Stan?

Thanks,

I believe that rash is metals detox, but I'm keeping an open mind.

In my son's case, I kept giving him everything until his gains seemed to level

off. That was

9 months after I started Valtrex. I then took him off everything, waited two

weeks, tested

him, and then just added the few items he needed from his Oats test and

continued from

there. We also kept him on the diet.

At some point you may be resolving metabolic issues and to continue the same

supplement regiment forever probably doesn't make sense.

Stopping once in a while, retesting and starting over may be a good idea if you

feel your

child has made significant progress IMO.
