Guest guest
Bonjour to everyone ! My name is Odile Lapointe. I passed the IBLCE exam in 2001. I have been a La Leche League Leader for 8 years and a PL for 4. My husband of 15 years, Yves, is proud that I'm an IBCLC mostly since it " may " mean no more volonteer work. ;-) I have 5 boys, all breastfed of course. They are Jean-Yves 13, 11, Hubert 10, 6 and Leo 3 yo. We live in Laval, half an hour north of Montreal, Canada. My " previous " carrer is Specialised educator...and I must say I haven't worked much as such. Started my family and met LLL. :-) I worked out an agreement with 2 pharmacies here, and they hire me for a few hours each, each week, so I can give private bf consultations free to their customers. Quite great. It gives me 5 paid hours per week for sure. I can then look at conferences or books and say " Well, I'll take that! " . Those 5 hours mean this is no volonteer work anymore. It even pays for my LLL volonteer work. Gas, monthly meeting's pizza...you know.... I haven't been very serious about publiciting my private practice. I visit a few moms each month, and that is good rythm for me now. I don't think I'll be in private practice for ever; I'd prefer (I think) to work building bf programs for the gvnt. I enjoy giving conferences and teaching the Health professionnal community. I've done a few as a LC. Given the choice, though, I think I'd like to study full time. So meanwhile, I'm beeing paid to wait, doing something I like, until it is the right time. Not so bad. Odile south of the North Pole
