Guest guest
I am also completely unable to say that i might be watching my diet for a week or two because everybody thinks it is absolutely crazy worrying about 5 extra pounds. But they way i see it. If i gain 2 then i put them back down. I don't want to wait until they become 20 or more Good morning I am working on a similar post but it's taking me awhile to put it together. I dare not mention that I am watching my weight. Because I get the same comments. If people have always seen you at a healthy weight they will not believe the efforts you go through to stay that way. Guest guest
It is always easier to stay slim than to get slim. Bad habits have to be overcome and those are harder than physical changes. Oh but to stay slim. One must guard against bad habits every minute of every day.
Guest guest
A little late into the discussion but here goes my little one cent cause i think it might not make it to 2... Something caught my attention of what Pete wrote. The part about the gradual weight gain. I see it all the time among my friends from school. Every time we meet they have gain a little more, not much, maybe 5 pounds or maybe 10... The thing is, nobody seems to care. First, i must say upfront that i am not overweight under any standards (i am also not underweight, 5'6'' size 6) but contrary to what all people believe i am capable of gaining. The most i ever gained was 10 pounds on a 3 month period where i was working against the clock and had to stay in the office about 15 hours a day and order all my meals. I wasn't pigging out incredibly but just ate what they delivered. The problem is one tends to finish the portion that u have because you just paid for your meal and seems weird to trow out half. (or at least it felt weird at the time) When people gain 5 pounds in a year they think it is really nothing but if you just do the math... keep it going for 10 years, 20... and then it is really clear where the 50 pounds come from. After my gaining i graduated and went right into loosing the weight. It took about 3 months too. I never gained again so much. But i often get a comment when i refuse a second slice of cake or when i say i have to go the the gym: " Common! but you can eat all you want! you are so slim! " or " you don't need to go to the gym... " mhhh no... i can't eat alll i want and actually i don't want to eat all that much. Guest guest
Folks, Sometimes it makes no difference. I am 150 lbs OVERweight, and openly, publicly working on weight loss. While many people help and encourage my efforts, many others make the same types of comments you have been discussing: "One piece of cake isn't going to kill you!" It was especially bad over "the holidays." Guest guest
I completely understand! People assume that because you are slim that 1 you have always been slim and 2 that you don't have to work at it. I look at my parents and both were slim when they were younger and now both have weight problems for various reasons. That being said, I don't want to end up that way so I watch what I eat and try to exercise regularly. But people always make comments about you don't have to worry and I get the crazy looks too. It seems that no matter were you fall on the scale people always have something to say.
