Hopefully everyone in these groups has called the Congressional Reps. to support the FMAP funding for states as well. This would help in many ways and they still have not past it from the alerts and reading I do daily. Election season?!?!?!

Dear Advocates:

The projected $18 billion deficit in the Texas state budget will have

dramatic effects on all health and human service programs.

Governor , Lt. Governor Dewhurst and Speaker Straus have

directed all state agencies to cut 5% of their current budgets and

to submit a budget 10% lower for the next two years.

Potentially this means reduced hours of services, loss of services completely

or inappropriate institutionalizatio n. Loss of access to medical care

is also a possibility.

What can we do to avoid losing some of the critical home and

community programs that have allowed people to get out of institutions

or to remain in the community with dignity?

Join advocates in Austin on Wednesday September 1st at the State Capitol

to let the Texas Legislative Leadership know that as a disability and/or aging consumer

or family member you need the services you are receiving and reductions will have a dramatic effect

on your life or that of a family member.

Please distribute the attached flyer throug your community.

This is the beginning of a campaign to INVEST IN COMMUNITY.

We want and need you!
