Deadline March 17

The Texas Department

of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) seeks stakeholder input for the

agency's 2012-2013 Legislative Appropriations Request (LAR). State

funding for DADS is determined in the regular state appropriation

process. This is a two-year budget cycle where each agency or

institution prepares a LAR that outlines their funding requirements

and/or needs for the upcoming biennium. This request includes all

sources of funds the agency expects to have available, including

federal funds.

The deadline

to submit your ideas is 5 p.m. March 17, 2010. Click

There are two

ways to submit your ideas electronically:

completed on your computer and e-mailed to the DADS Government

Relations section at GovtRelations@....

Please be as clear

and concise as you can when describing what you think is needed. Please

categorize your request to indicate whether it is a new issue, an

expansion of current services or a restoration of services to meet the

needs of individuals.

Stakeholders will

have additional opportunities to influence the development of the DADS

LAR as this process proceeds. Plans are underway for a public hearing

in Austin, as well as an additional hearing via video conference across

the state. A draft LAR is expected by mid to late summer.
