I see we have a poll regarding Tuna, and I wish we could have left comments when we voted, but I really would like to make a comment because I really don't feel as if this is a free speech issue at all!! I totally support free speech! However, this is a forum that I believe was designed to create motivation and support for individuals that are trying to better themselves in a variety of ways and I firmly believe that when a group member flames another group member (such as tuna has) that it is inappropriate in this setting. Tuna of course has the absolute right to say whatever he or she chooses to say, but there is a time and a place for everything and I honestly feel this is an inappropriate place for flaming others.

just my opinion,

Kathie

Before I vote in a poll, I want to know who started it and in this case, does the person asking the question have the authority to act on the outcome.

I'd think if someone has the authority to axe this person and all his pseudonyms, they wouldn't be asking this question. he would already be gone.

Tuna and his kind have made this group unpleasant at best in the past but they also bring down groups. It's not just one person expressing his opinions. He's poison.

To all other members of this group, please be assured this is my last post on the subject of Tuna and I won't respond to anything he or his pseudonyms may say.

Elaine,

I started the poll.

I totaly disagree with most of what Tuna says as I know it is untrue... BUT.... I wanted others opionions before I made a decision to ban or to let him stay and vent to us. I have been accused of being unfair previously so I thought I would put it to a vote this time :)

So if yall want a say go vote. I will leave it open for a few days to give everyone a chance.

Thanks for answering my question, . The reason my message was so vehement is because of the people, including Tuna, who destroyed the group for afatmansjourney and I don't want that to happen to this one. So it wasn't just one message, one question, that may or may not have been appropriate, it was the whole idea of someone who has a questionable interest in the group and an unpleasant past. When afatmansjourney first went down, I saw some of those names come over here for a while and I felt sick about it. I want to keep this group as healthy as possible. I felt I should explain this, so sorry to go back on my word to not post on it anymore.

Thanks, .

I agree with Kathie. I don't think it is a free speech issue,

really. However, I don't think someone should be banned because

they have a different opinion. Life is full of different opinions.

You take them for what they are worth (or not) and move on. I think

that what Tuna says can be construed as inflamatory, but you only

add fuel to the fire by reacting to his rants. Now he knows he can

get a rise out of all of you, so he will continue with his

negativity. People thrive on attention; both positive and negative

attention. If you don't agree with him, say so and let it go. He

is entitled to his opinion. The fact that he (she?) hides behind a

pseudonym tells you something, doesn't it??

Thank You !

LL, I did un sub, but then received a message that Tuna has been removed, so I did sign back up. Yes, I totally agree with you, everyone is totally entitled to their opinion and i welcome and embrace EVERYONE'S opinion as long as it is presented in a constructive manner. Calling someone a "pig" is hitting below the belt, uncalled for, unacceptable and should NOT be considered ok behavior on a list such as this that has been created to provide support for persons in need of support. Not to say that we need to enable eachother to continue with unhealthy behavior, but if you are having a bad day and need a friend to lean on, i would offer my shoulder to any member of this list in a heartbeat and try to help you reach your goals and dreams.

And , you are just beautiful and have a heart of gold. Please don't ever change!

I agree

It was not what was said, but HOW it was stated.

There is never call for assassinating someone's character or name

calling.

Anyone who has food issues knows that there is a lot more to things then

just saying " no " to food. It is so much more complex than that.

Hi Kathie, This was sort of a miserable day and your kind words really made me smile and weep a little at the same time. You turned things around for me. Many thanks.

Actually it is that simple and not at all complex. The bottom line is

if you stuff the pie hole full all the time you will get fat like a & %

*! Remember the following...

" Being overweight is a not a disease but instead the result of bad

behavior and there is no cure or quick fix for being overweight.

Instead the solution to being overweight is to accept and correct

your own bad behaviors that brought you to where you are today.

The solution is very simple. Either you do something about it or you

don't. "

Hi,

I woudl like to respectfully respond to what Harry said. . . . while I somewhat agree with this one statement he made. . . .

""The solution is very simple. Either you do something about it or you

don't.",

I don't agree that the solution is in any way simple, but I do agree that either you do something about your issues or you don't. It has been my life experience that nothing in life is simple or easy, that is exactly what makes life worth living. . . . losing weight/changing your lifestyle is definitely NOT an easy task, however it is definitely a worthwhile task.

just my 2 cents,

warmly,

Kathie

Thanks Kathie!

Actually I did not say it that is why I put it in quotes. Steve said

it. Oh and it really is easy once you get started. Starting is very

hard because you have to admit things to yourself that are not kind

in any way. Nobody likes their feelings hurt but to cure obeasity you

need to hurt your own feelings and then fix the damage, that is a

strange trick.

As for the way fit people who were once fatties put things it is

because those are the realities that we had to admit to ourselves.

Think about the constant whinning of a reformed smoker! Reformed

fatties have much the same mind set. You really have to call a spade

a spade and it can not be done with hearts or diamonds.

Now for a little fun poking fun at myself. I just got an early

Christmas present. A girl I work with gave me a full length mirror

for my bedroom door so I can admire myself. Funny thing is that I

have already put it up and flexed my pecs.
