Guest guest
have any of you watched Scientific American Frontiers? they had this guy on there named Dr. Walford, a while back who was on the Biosphere Crew. He's this nutrition professor who believes that in order to live longer we actually have to be skinnier than we think but eat really well. I dont know if i could do that, but his nutrition stuff & recipes are really interesting. he has a nutrtion calculator at http://www.walford.com/nutrition.htm his site isnt organized really well and i can tell it's been a while since he's updated it. so it can be a little challanging to use. he's got recipes at http://www.walford.com/kitchen.htm there are more recipes somewhere but the link is messed up and i cant remember how to circumvent it and find them. i was really disapointed that his nutrition analyzer did not include flax. if you want to be sure you are getting complete B vitamins, make sure you add wheat germ or crushed flax seed to your food every day. Flax is full of the same good fatty acids as salmon. i love cream of wheat. and we all know that it is pure starch. So, i take wheat germ, oat bran, wheat bran, crushed flax seed, raisins & cranberries and boil them up and then add just enough cream of wheat to give it that yummy flavor. Now it's a high fiber, high nutrition and lower carb breakfast. However, I did find out that i should be adding the wheat germ & flax last as most the nutrition in them cooks away with heating.. anyway, hope someone finds the links interesting. laurie
