Guest guest
Has anyone read anything about redheads being a risk for thyroid disease. I am a redhead, and read in a low carb cookbook (of all things) that if you are redheaded, you are missing a chromosome, and will be genetically predisposed to being hypothyroid. I had my doctor test it as a result of reading that and sure enough, I was. Of course, he laughed at me and told me that I certainly was not missing a chromosome. Not being a very scientific person :-), I don't even know how that figures in to the picture. However, although I've had low thyroid symptoms my entire life, the tests never confirmed it until a couple of years ago after starting the menopause cycle. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this. My family has strong German, and me and two of my 4 children (both girls) have Hashimoto's. Also, autoimmune thyroid disease is known to have other autoimmune diseases right along with it. marin@....
