When I took inositol I started itching all over which concerned me so I stopped taking it. In the link below are listed inositol side efffects which includes itching. I like your theory and inositol seems to have helped you so I might give it another go as the itching seems to be benign.

Itching

Itching may occur as a result of histamine release into your blood by this medication. This may cause itching of your skin. Your doctor will need to evaluate this non-serious side effect if it continues or becomes severe.

Can you tell me what brand you took? I just stopped taking inositol after 3

months without ANY response. I understand it is alleged to upregulate receptors,

but I've had no luck with an 18gram per day (split between morning and night)

dosage. I've been suffering with symptoms since January 2007, and I'd say

inositol has had the least positive effect of anything i've taken to deal with

the situation. For the record I'm using jarrow inositol powder.

I was using inositol powder. The brand that I used was Swansons:

http://www.swansonvitamins.com/SW1164/ItemDetail?n=0

A 227 gram tub sets you back $10.99, it comes with a 6 gram scooper, so

basically 3 scoops into some water. What I've been doing is dissolving the

powder in a water bottle, adding some Crystal Light and chugging it down (the

powder itself has a sweet taste, but its much more palatable with Crystal

Light). Side effects I had were diarrhea and gas, but they got better with

continued use. If you get bad diarrhea, just start with a small dose and work

your way up. 18 grams is the biggest dose I've seen in studies, so I went with

that. But you may have some luck with smaller doses like 6 -12 grams.

Any idea how long it took for you to notice?

Hey ben,

How has the piracetam worked out? I had hoped you would report a quick response.

No pressure, remember that many people have to take it for weeks to notice a difference.

I would expect the insotol to take even longer, but I don't know.

Good luck, sir.

Yo dude.

I can report that it has given me very vivid dreams and erotic dreams too.

Erections and libido are still lacking, but 2 days ago ony 3rd day of Piracetam

I was hanging out with this girl and felt for the first time in 7 months that

fire down below from an emotional and sexual standpoint. It was brief but

happened continually throughout the day when I would fantasize about it. That

was a very hopeful sign to me. I also noticed it lifted Anhedonia and depression

considerbally. I have been taking 3 800mg at morning and them at night. Too

much? Could a smaller dose be more effective? Or should I keep taking the same

dose andre it build up?

I started noticing improvement in erections by about the 4 week mark. By the end

of week 7 I would say I was almost at 100%. I've stopped the inositol for about

2 weeks now and so far I've been maintaining my gains. I'm trying to see if I

have to constantly supplement with it, or if it is a permenant one time thing.

Greg, are they talking about your case here? It seems similar. Did you get any symptoms like poor memory, brain fog or increased appetite while on Inositol? http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=966561--- Subject: Re: Finally cured after 2 years of hellTo: SSRIsex Date: Saturday, March 26, 2011, 6:26 AM

Hey Ben,I consider this to be a very good sign. Regardless of the fact that you are taking a higher dose, you have felt the initial changes within days. This is a sign that the architecture is still present, but just a little distant. By making your brain cells more permeable, some of these signals started getting through. By the way, I always felt emotional changes before sexual ones. Often it would take a few days of dosing before my libido really responded...but the improvement in general well being and outlook began immediately. You should allow yourself to feel some real hope. It is highly likely that you will continue to make progress over time.3 pills at a time is not too high, not to be concerned about overdosing. This stuff is too safe...But, consider the problem of

running out of choline. This is a salt present in the membranes, and running out of it starts to suck.At the doses you are taking you will likely start feeling some mild negative effects within the first few weeks or months.Reducing your dose a little would help prolong this process. Also, stretch it out throughout the day. Six pills per day could be spaced out more. Keep in mind that the digestion process is still driving everything, so spreading your doses out will probably improve your digestive system's access to the drug. I notice that I get a lot more brain-wiring done on days when I eat too much...Also, I HIGHLY recommend the fish oil. I promise it will help that piracetam penetrate even further. They seem to be synergistic.Omega 3 helps improve the mylenation (coating) around nerve cells. You couldn't ask for a better companion.A choline supplement would be a good idea,

too. I am buying one before my next cycle.I imagine it will really help prevent the mild headaches. Also, consider some turmeric extract. You can buy it 95% curcuminoid concentration. It is believed to help regrow nerve cells. It is also a strong anti-inflammatory agent. It can't hurt.I wish you the best of luck Ben. Keep us updated.Mr. Zoloft Sucks,Thanks for the response. I wanted to respond back - I understand that taking dopamine agonists help many of us out. So how could 'too much' dopamine be the problem? The truth is, in terms of semantics, you are right. The language being used is not sophisticated enough.Schizophrenia is believed to be caused by either an 'excess' of dopamine, or a 'heightened sensitivity' to it (depends on who you ask).Dopamine agonists are also successful in treating these patients! So what is going on? If they have 'too much' why does this

help?Because they only have 'too much' because the brain is overproducing it in order to reach distant pathways...It is not really about quantity....more like location. When certain pathways run dry, the brain starts freaking out to produce ever greater amounts of dopamine. The doctors can tell more dopamine is being produced during this 'freak-out', so they theorize that 'too much dopamine' could be the problem. They are diagnosing a symptom, but NOT a cause. They crudely guess at how dopamine is involved...When the dopamine agonist starts plugging up receptors, more dopamine is available to reach these distant pathways, right? It is not just increasing total supply....it is 're-distributing' it!I have confidence in my theory, so I hope I am right:You may have enough dopamine, but just in the

wrong places.Plugging up dopamine receptors alters the distribution of it. (dopamine agonists)Increasing cellular permeability alters the distribution of it. (piracetam)Exercise alters the distribution of it. (increased blood-flow)Yes, I believe that dopamine distribution is a likely candidate as a MAJOR cause of this malfunction.Serotonin, which influences blood flow, may play a crucial indirect role. BUT the dopamine shortage (or abundance, or poor distribution) is responsible directly for the anehdonia.Fix these dopamine (and serotonin) pathways, and fix the problem.I welcome all responses to my theory - I only wish

to help. =)To: SSRIsex Sent: Fri, March 25, 2011 12:45:21 PMSubject: Re: Finally cured after 2 years of hell

Yo dude.

I can report that it has given me very vivid dreams and erotic dreams too. Erections and libido are still lacking, but 2 days ago ony 3rd day of Piracetam I was hanging out with this girl and felt for the first time in 7 months that fire down below from an emotional and sexual standpoint. It was brief but happened continually throughout the day when I would fantasize about it. That was a very hopeful sign to me. I also noticed it lifted Anhedonia and depression considerbally. I have been taking 3 800mg at morning and them at night. Too much? Could a smaller dose be more effective? Or should I keep taking the same dose andre it build up?

I just bought the Choline & Inositol because of someone's success with it on the

board. I think he took 18grams a day.

The kind I got, its Swanson brand, is only 250mg of choline and 250mg of

inositol. Should I be taking more than the 1 pill. 18grams is significantly

Thanks for your response, Sam. Your theory seems to make a lot of sense. Subject: Re: Finally cured after 2 years of hellTo: SSRIsex Date: Monday, March 28, 2011, 8:44 AM

I am feeling all my emotions come back lately and the depression and anxiety has

totally lifted. It feels great. I feel more libido too. Nothing off the charts

but certainly feeling it!

I tried inositol that I had in my closet for awhile, I took 1 gram of inositol

pill form and 1 gram of inositol and choline pill form which had 250 mg each in

one pill. Believe it or not on the first dose I felt happy and became pretty

horny, but on the second and third time it seemed less noticeble but I started

itching like what some described here and got rash on my arms. So im waiting for

them to go away to see if it happens again. But for sure, it wasnt a placebo

I took 18G of Inositol for more than a year for anxiety and did not notice

anything different. I have been tapering off it over the past 6 mos. due to

cost and now am at 4G. I can't say I see any difference between 18G and 4G.

Wish I could say otherwise because it sounds like it's working for you.
