Guest guest
Ann, I'm so glad you got some milk! Our milk guy gave me instructions for making cultured butter. His wife used to make it occasionally. I haven't tried to make anything with the milk yet except yogurt (which didn't set up,) but the recipe sounded interesting. You might want to ask him about it- this is what I remember. Pour the milk into a glass jar and after it's sat out overnight, skim the cream off with a dipper and put it in another bowl. Continue to leave the cream and milk out until they're sour and thick. Put 1 part milk to every two parts cream in your churning device, and mix until your butter comes. Then you rinse the butter under cold water and press it against a bowl with a wooden spoon to get all the water out. You'll end up with butter and buttermilk. We should be moving at the end of next week, so hopefully we can set up a schedule for keeping each other in milk. ) Love in Christ, Alison __________________________________________________
