Guest guest
We use the almonds with the skin on with no problem. They are delicious.
Guest guest
I can get organic almonds, but they have the skins on. If I blanch them to get the skins off, will they still sprout? If so, it would seem that the quicker they get out of the hot water the better. If that won't work, is there another way to do this. The blanched almonds we can find at the store aren't organic, and they are pretty stale. Laurie
Guest guest
Laurie - I don't think they will sprout. I've been soaking organic almonds for years for my parrots and myself. Soak them overnight until the skin is loose and you can rub the skins off the almonds (the skins are somewhat toxic and irritating to the gut). They can then be dried or eaten " wet " . The soaking makes them nearly viable (and adds beneficial bacteria) and is better than eating them with skins on. The wet ones can be blended into smoothies, etc. Quite nutritious. -=mark=- At 05:37 AM 9/24/01 +0000, you wrote: >I can get organic almonds, but they have the skins on.
