Guest guest
Bumping this up again looking for help! We have cut him back to 250mg 2x/day and are still seeing these outbursts which include screaming and crying for hours. My husband wants him to stop valtrex completely. He has had good gains so I hate to stop, but at the same time I can't continue to put him through this. Any help would be GREATLY appreciate. Guest guest
I have a new theroy about this type of reaction. You are already on Diflucan, so I'm going to focus on the possibility it's a detox reaction and suggest you go back to 250, 250, 500mg but every other day. This is a new concept. If you do it, let me know how it works. - Stan > > > > My son has been on Valtrex (250mgx3) since early August. He had > > some fever and flu like symptoms early on. Guest guest
Stan- Thanks for your response. We stopped the Valtrex today, but perhaps I can convince my husband to try your suggestion. - can you elaborate on your rationale? - also, what do your think about activated charcoal? - are others having a similar response? Any input is GREATLY appreciated. I will keep you updated on what we do. Molly > > > > > > My son has been on Valtrex (250mgx3) since early August. Guest guest
My son was prescribed an anti-inflamatory the first week to reduce issues in the brain when he started Valtrex. He still had some rages but didn't last long. > > > > My son has been on Valtrex (250mgx3) since early August. He had > > some fever and flu like symptoms early on. Guest guest
What anti-inflamatory was he given? My son has been standing on his head on the couch every evening since we started valtrex. Could this be a sign of inflamation? Please share any additional info you have. Molly > > > > > > My son has been on Valtrex (250mgx3) since early August. Guest guest
A characteristic behavior of " standing in their head " has been said by several doctors that could be an overload of lymphatic system; most of our kids have trouble draining the lymph nodes, you can corroborate that by looking where they are located and sometimes you can feel them swollen. A good help is jumping in a bouncer. A chi machine. Hot spring waters. AL. > > > > > > > > My son has been on Valtrex (250mgx3) since early August. Guest guest
He was prescribed prednisone for less than 2 weeks. But I think I heard (not sure if it was the doctor or someone else) that some of the over the counter pain killers (Motrin, etc) also work as anti- inflammation. You might want to check with your doctor to verify the product and dose. > > > > > > > > My son has been on Valtrex (250mgx3) since early August.
