A few quick reminders re: the upcoming Workshop

Hi everyone,

A few things to keep in mind as we get ready to head to Redondo Beach for the Workshop in 3 weeks.

1. If you facility is pre-paying your room & tax, you will still need to provide a credit card @ check in for incidentals such as room service, internet access, or in room movies. Hotels typically 'hold' an authorization on the credit card of approximately $100/night, so if you use a ATM/debit card, be aware that you will not have access to those funds that have the hold on them until after you have checked out. Remember, if you will arriving at the hotel late in the day, you should call the Front Desk @ during the day of your check-in to confirm your room is being held for late arrival.

2. Inroom internet access is $9.95 per 24/hr period. Some rooms have wired internet, some have wireless, & some have both. Give how high the occupancy at the hotel is expected to be while we are there, there will be very little ability to switch rooms, especially for those who are arriving latest, should you end up in a room that only has wireless internet. I would strongly suggest that if you are bringing a laptop w/you, have your IS dept configure it for wireless access just in case.

3. Each guest room has a refridgerator for your own snacks & drinks. While there are some available in the hotel gift shop (the hotel, btw, is a Coke hotel!), there is also a small convenience store about a block north on North Harbor Dr. as well as a Savon Drug Store, which also has an extensive offering of snacks & drinks, at the corner of Beryl St. & Pacific Coast Highway.

4. If you are planning to leave a tip for your housekeeper ( & I hope everyone does-those ladies work VERY hard!), the hotel has asked that you clearly indicate the $$ you are leaving is for the housekeeper. One suggestion is to put it in a clean & dry water glass w/a note saying 'Thank you'-this way the housekeeper will know you intend the $$ for her. It's also suggested that guests tip each day vs. @ the end of the stay to ensure the tip goes to the housekeeper who actually took care of your room each day.

5. As a reminder, the TFCA Meeting on Thursday morning, October 5 at 8am is the Association's Annual Business Meeting & is open to 2006 Members in Good Standing only. So, if you are not a Member for '06 (though why wouldn't you want to be?) & checked that box in error, you get to sleep a bit later that morning!
