Guest guest
Hi,Jim recommended #12 wire. I got the type that is solid, not strands, and it is hard to bend.Copper. Is that Ok to use? Also this big cap is all metal. Is it ok for it to be touching or sitting on components? Also, the extra ground leads coming from each component were connected to my old power supply.Do they need to be connected to the power supply on a seperate case screw,or can they be grounded elsewhere. And On the linear amp, what is the " rec " button? Should it be on? Is the linear amp{black face} that came with the Tunney units rated at 200 watts? Also How big of a difference in effects have you all seen with a bigger tube? Say 27inch by 1 inch as opposed to 18 In.? Thanks,Im trying not to fry anything else. :~O

It should work fine (are you using it for hookup wire for the components?) although stranded usually conducts better, plus can be more easily wrapped around clamshell chokes. 10ga (stranded) would be better between the power supply and the capacitor (and between the capacitor and the terminal block, if one if being used). > Also, the extra ground leads coming from each component were connected > to my old power supply.Do they need to be connected to the power > supply on a seperate case screw,or can they be grounded elsewhere. It most situations, the coax cables provide sufficient grounding where others are not needed, although some may help. I use one on my current setup since it makes the CB modulate better by connecting it to the tuner. > And On the linear amp, what is the " rec " button? Should it be on? That is for when the amp is used as a receiver transmitter. It does not need to be on. > Is the linear amp{black face} that came with the Tunney units rated at > 200 watts? It depends on the amp. Some will make that high with a high enough modulator (CB) input, but these will typically run around 100-150W. > Also How big of a difference in effects have you all seen with a > bigger tube? Say 27inch by 1 inch as opposed to 18 In.? Bigger tubes seem to provide some additional effect, but short ones work fine and they can be much easier to light, which is usually more of a consideration. > Thanks,Im trying not to fry anything else. :~O The main thing that makes components last longer is to keep them cool. Amps like palomars do well with two fans - top and bottom. turf
