On January 12, 2006 we had a beautiful baby girl named Mia. She was a big girl-over 9 lbs! Mia and I both had fevers at delivery and she was off to NICU, while I had some tests done due to complications immediately after delivery. While in NICU the pediatrician on-call felt that she " may " have down syndrome, so he ordered blood tests. After a week it was confirmed that she indeed had MDS. Of course we were in shock to say the least, but can't even think of life without her now. I look forward to speaking to you all in the future. Sincerely, Kim L. Guest guest
Welcome Kim! I have a daugter with MDS who is 6 months old and I live on Cape Cod. She had a 2 week stay in the NICU and that is where I learned that they thought she had a genetic issue. I had a negative amnio so I was in denial that it was even a possibility. At 11weeks old at her follow-up genetics appt I learned of the MDS diagnosis. I felt every emotion possible. But now I would not trade her for anything in the world. This group is so wonderful. It helps to talk to others who have a child like you and who understand everything you are going through. Welcome to the group! and MDS 6 months old
