Guest guest
Su-u-u-ure: WASHINGTON - The Justice Department (news - web sites) is seeking abortion records from the University of Michigan Medical Center and several other university hospitals as part of a lawsuit over the federal ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions. The Justice Department insists it does not want any names or other patient information in the records. The main purpose for the subpoenas, officials say, is to verify that the doctors who brought the lawsuits have performed the procedure and under what circumstances. "No patient will be linked to any medical information contained in the records," Justice attorneys said in a brief filed in an Illinois case.
