Guest guest
We exempted ourselves for religious reasons. Although not an official stance of our church, we still can rightfully object to fetus tissue being used to make the vaccines. I also really don't think God would want us to make any more of our children have neurological problems, so I don't have a problem with the religious exemption. In our state it only required a check in a box and my signature. -Phyllis vaccine question Hi. I would like to know if anyone here has gotten an exemption for vaccines for their child. I do not want to vaccinate my 5 year old with the MMR before he goes into kindergarten and I have a 4 month old that I do not want to vaccinate as well. If anyone has any advice please let me know. Guest guest
My state, TN, has a religious exemption for vaccines. All the local health dept said I should do is write a letter to the school stating why I am not vaccinating. I plan on typing a letter that simply states the code and that is my reasoning. In addition, in this state we have to have a " green card " with either the doc's signature for the vaccines (or medical waiver), or a statement from him explaining why no vaccines. I suggest checking with either your state's website or local health dept. I found my state's code by doing a search in their code page with " vaccine exemption " as the search words. HTH, Debi > Hi. Guest guest
Hi Sharon. Every state has different rules as to what type of exemptions they will accept. I live in Ohio and just wrote a philosophical objection for my son. (He starts kindergarten in the fall). It was a really stress-free process. The school provided a form. I wrote about a paragraph-worth of explanation and they tucked it away in his file. Check to see which exemptions are valid in your state, and then check and see what your school district requires. Really key though is to talk to other parents in your area. You want to discover if your school district has challenged any exemptions in the past, and which kind are most likely to be challenged. (even medical exemptions are subject to challenges. The drug companies have a lot at stake with the whole vaccine cartel and they constantly lobby congress to get our ability to have exemptions overturned) Do a little research too on some case law pertaining to exemptions and cases where parents have gone to court with their school district and won. It's better to be over prepared on such an important issue then to let the bureaucracy of the school system push you into harming your child just so he's eligible for their idea of an appropriate education! Guest guest
Our state has a " personal exemption " and I just signed it off on the school's form as we are personally opposed to these vaccines and then listed the ones that he was due for prior to kdgn. I also happened to have a measles titer run for him at the doc office (involves a blood draw) and it was high enough to show " immunity " (whatever that REALLY means! LOL!) and anyway, I made a copy of it and had them attach it to the form so that IF there were a measles outbreak, he could not be withheld from coming to school because he's already considered " immune " to it. But lately I have been seeing parents posting that their MD's are not buying into the titer argument anymore, which makes me think that some organization is promoting this information and distributing it to the docs-- to say that if you have the actual illness and show high enough titers, that you are immune, but if you have the vaccine and have high enough titers, that you are really " not immune " and they want to push the booster shots on you anyway!!! GRRRR!!! W > Hi. I would like to know if anyone here has gotten an exemption for > vaccines for their child. Guest guest
Yes, please check your state on dana's chart and figure out if your state has a personal exemption (if so, use that) or a religious exemption or medical exemption. Ours has a personal exemption and that was very easy to do--the school had the form. If yours is a religious exemption state then ask the school for a form, or submit a letter-- there is a link on dana's site. Guest guest
Yes, I had this very problem for 's kindergarten last year. She had the sniffles for her well-visit so I told the doc I wanted to wait until she was feeling better. She told me technically they don't have to have their 5yr boosters until age 6, but Jess was 6 in May. I'm behind on her well visits, got one scheduled for Sept. I'm going to ask for titer level check. I do not plan on vaccinating her any time soon. She did have a mild reaction to MMR at 12 mos, so I don't think I will get that one any time soon. As far as my fully- vaccinated 4 yr old ASD child, I will not vaccinate her again, unless I feel led to do so. I also expect (although he may not realize this, lol) a medical waiver for Allie. In addition, I might have a serious liver disease that I'm hoping (if I have, which I'm hoping I won't have) if I do have it then it might be enough for a medical waiver of at least the hepb shot, which has a role in Allie's autism. I'm also asking for titer level of her hepB in Sept for her 4 yr well visit. I found my state's law on religious exemption and will be writing a simple statement of me asserting code blah blah in regards to vaccinating my child. HTH, Debi > Hi, > > Has anyone stopped vaccines on their NT child? My ASD child will no > longer receive them. My 6 yr (7 in Nov) old NT child is very small > for her age (40 lbs, 42 inches tall, same size as her 4 yr old sis!) > She has a mouthful of crowns and fillings. Any thoughts on this? > > Elayna
