Guest guest
Hi, Pennie your daughter seems so lucky to have a mother like you. My daughter is almost 5 , and I can only wish when she is your daughter's age I can relate to your story. My daughter has also made wonderful progress she is no where near where she should be, but hey I am like you she is on no meds, and only pre-school , and private speech and O.T we have not done any other things that a lt of parents are trying. Not To say they don't work, but as long as I see progress we will keep at this route. Sometimes I do think I am cheating her in progress because I choose not to do other things like meds. I guess I have to just believe I am doing the right thing. le

Guest guest
le, I am glad to hear that your daughter is making progress, Abby will be 6 in April, sounds so far away yet it really is just over a month away, they grow so quickly. I have been made to feel so bad about not doing ABA or " The Diet " , it is simply not for Abby. She is doing so well that I am not about to interfiere with that. I dont believe that others should be judged because they dont do what someone else does. The whole thing just made me mad. But thats a whole other story. LOL Did your daughter just turn 5? I can honestly say that out of Abby's 4 years with Ellen in PPI that this has truly been her year. The progress has been remarkable, its as though someone turned the lightbulb on. its wonderful. That day will come for your daughter as well. I never thought I would be able to sit and have a conversation with Abby and lately thats all she want to do. I thank God everynight for Ellen so is a God sent. Pennie
Guest guest
Donelle, I to have considered the diet, but then decided that it would be more trouble then its worth at this point. We are drowning in debt from all of Abby's doctor bills and there is no way I can afford that diet anyway. I am not going to change anything right now as everything we are doing is working. I get tired of anytime a parent post a problem (NOT IN THIS GROUP-another one), the first thing that flys out of everyone's mouth is... " Have you tried the diet? " It is not for everyone and people need to learn to respect that. Glad your daughter is doing well, apperently you are doing things right-with out the diet. Sorry, I am grumpy today. LOL Pennie
Guest guest
, Abby has never had the leacky gut problem either, Now she is sick alot but that is a immunity problem, not food allergies. Abby eats alot of fruit and from what I understand that is also " forbidden " . Glad there is someone that agree's that the diet isnt for everybody. Guest guest
Pennie, I totally agree with you. Many children with autism have GI problems, " leaky gut " , allergies, etc. but not all do. The ones that do are helped by the diet, and I think that is great. My daughter has never had a single GI problem EVER and has no food allergies or sensitivities. She also practically never gets sick. I believe a lot of this is the excellent diet I feed her, which includes a lot of those " forbidden " foods, including fresh homemade yogurt, which I give her every day. It has tons of calcium, protein and friendly bacteria. Her gut is as healthy as can be. Everyone has to realize that every case is unique! :-) On Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at 04:53 AM, Ploveabby@... wrote: > Donelle, I to have considered the diet, but then decided that it would > be > more trouble then its worth at this point. Guest guest
Did you have a colonoscopy to rule out leaky gut? There's no way to look at a child and tell. Again, Alyssa had NO SIGNS of leaky gut. > , Abby has never had the leacky gut problem either, Now she is sick alot > but that is a immunity problem, not food allergies. Guest guest
I to have much issues with gut and yet have had scope of colonoscope and they to finded many tiny ulcerative cankers on my colon, no cancers and they to also later through another testing to finded I to be to have Helicobacter Pylori. I to have constant loose stool and much gas things in the morning, bloating. I to be to see a GI doctor regular and cannot be to find answers to my GI issues. I to be to still have no true dx or such for it , and am still to be to go to the GI doctor for explorative measures. She to now want to rescope with barium enema things and look again. She to say that even though I to do what was told of me in the prep of the last testing the odd things was I to had stool still up high in my colon and she to not understand why. As my gut should have been completely cleaned but it didn't be to clean out well before the surgery. So what I to be sharing that even if one to be to have gut issues a scope might not lead to the answers one is looking for. I to wish it was that simple. I do be to know I to be to have had dx of colitis as a child. I to be cleaned of parasites, am now currently under high and heavy doses of antibiotic to kill the H pylori in my gut, this is much common for institutionalized persons to have but if left untreated will eat ulcers through my stomach lining and or create gastric cancers. Guest guest
I'm really curious. What antibiotic? And are they giving you an antifungal with it? I have a friend w/ a triplet girl with similar issues (she's a nonverbal 5 year old). Have you read any of Don Colbert's stuff on yeast? Or Crooks or Semon? If you have, what is your opinion of it? > I to have much issues with gut and yet have had scope of colonoscope and > they to finded many tiny ulcerative cankers on my colon, no cancers and they > to also later through another testing to finded I to be to have Helicobacter > Pylori. Guest guest
I to be on these things to kill the H pylori. Biaxin 250 MG 2x a day for 8 weeks IC Metronidazole 500 MG 2x a day for 8 weeks IC Omeprazole 20 MG 2x a day for 8 weeks Afterwards will be to clean the gut of the yeast issues and damage from long term use of the antibiotic. I to have had meridian testing and it to showed this H pylori and the GI doctor confirmed it with breath test I to had to do at out patient. It was not intrusive and had to drink a small amount of very tart lemon drink and breath in a tube. actually to blow my breath through straw into a cup. The meridian testing to also showed I to have mercury much high in my body and bound in my kidneys and bladder. I to also have high yeast issues. And have much fool sensitivities and allergy, which I to not be to know of. I to not be able to have veggies with skins such as cucumber, green pepper, onion, corn, and foods like them, strawberries and Kiwi and apples do cause me issues too. I to be allergic to dairy. Guest guest
Charlene, Why do you think your kids don't suffer from leaky gut? Almost ALL of these kids do. I mean, did you have some magic test done to prove otherwise? If so, I'd like to hear about it. Rhonda
