Guest guest
Your local school is required to provide a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE). If your school does not provide an inclusion classroom and that is what is most appropriate for your child, then they are required to provide you placement someplace else that does. That may be the school where he is currently or may be someplace else within the district or even a private school. They cannot force you to homeschool. I'm not clear, though, on why other schools wouldn't have an inclusion program as that is the norm for public schools (a general education program provided to all students with appropriate push in and pull out for those whose needs and IEPs require special ed). Has the school in whose area you reside refused to register your son? My son is 5 years old, High Functioning. We live in Jersey City and like the school that our son is going, but they are not guaranteeing placement for next year, since it's not our home school. He has to go back to homeschool, which we don't like. We are looking for schools in Central, South and North Jersey. Any suggestion would be highly appreciated. Do you know of any good school with inclusion program? Do you like your school district? Thanks-Judy
