zoloft side effects?

does anyone know if weight gain is a side effect of zolfot? Only

because my son is overweight he just started it this week and he is

dieting and going to hip kids program at the ymca so I dont want this

to pack on more weight

Everyone is different.

My daughter has been on and off Zoloft for 6 years and has gained alot of

weight from it, but it helps her so I keep her on it.

My 11 year old son definately gained a bunch of weight after starting zoloft at

age 8 1/2. He has not grown an inch since then and has gone from being super

lean and muscular to being kind of chunky with a big gut and " man boobs " . He is

very active, plays about 8 hours of hockey or lacrosse a week, eats very well

and still putting it on. I guess zoloft is supposed to be weight neutral, but

clearly the timing coincided for him. I am hoping when he hits his growth spurt

it will go away. We have also been weaning WAY down due to behavioral side

effects at high doses, but so far no change in the weight gain problem. I guess

everyone is just different.
